Today I am going to show you two murals that I saw on the walls of tenement houses in Lodz and which fascinated me. They are very creative, symbolic, they beautifully decorate the buildings on which they were painted.
Pokażę wam dzisiaj dwa murale, które zobaczyłam na ścianach łódzkich kamienic i które mnie zafascynowały. Są bardzo kreatywne, symboliczne, pięknie zdobią budynki na których zostały namalowane.
The first mural reminds me of a tattoo motif or some t-shirts. There is a lot of symbolism here - a heart from which grows a tree, an eye and two moths by the heart. Its author is Alexis Diaz from Puerto Rico, and the mural decorates the tenement house at 26 Kilińskiego Street in Łódź.
The artist is known for his chimeric and dreamlike representations of animals in a state of strange metamorphosis. Both in the works made by himself and in those created in the group "La Pandilla", Diaz shows a deep interest in the moment of change, animals are in a state of strange metamorphosis, sometimes they have human hands, they turn into ships and submarines, and the skulls take wings like butterflies. Usually, in these compositions, we see how a self-propelling machine is created from human and animal parts (is it not a flying balloon made of a human heart in a mural in Lodz?).

And what does this mural look like to you?
Pierwszy mural kojarzy mi się z motywem z tatuaży albo z niektórych t-shirtów. Dużo tu symboliki - serce z którego wyrasta drzewo, oko i dwie ćmy przy sercu. Jego autorem jest Alexis Diaz z Puerto Rico, a mural zdobi kamienicę przy ulicy Kilińskiego 26 w Łodzi.
Artysta znany jest z chimerycznych i onirycznych przedstawień zwierząt w stanie dziwnej metamorfozy. Zarówno w pracach wykonanych samodzielnie, jak i w tych stworzonych w grupie „La Pandilla” Diaz wykazuje głębokie zainteresowanie momentem przemiany, zwierzęta znajdują się w stanie dziwnej metamorfozy, czasami mają ludzkie ręce, zmieniają się w statki i okręty podwodne, a czaszki uskrzydlają się jak motyle. Zwykle w kompozycjach tych widzimy jak z części ludzkich i zwierzęcych powstaje jakby samonapędzająca się maszyna (czy na muralu w Łodzi to nie latający balon z ludzkiego serca?).

A Wam co przypomina ten mural?
The second mural shows a girl sitting on a stool, and behind her you can see a room dominated by huge monstera leaves, you can also see bottles that seem perfect for painting a still life, a bed with linen and a window, as well as an old telephone. I like the style and colors in several green and brown colors.
Drugi mural przedstawia dziewczynę siedzącą na taborecie, a za nią widać pokój, w którym dominują ogromne liście monstery, widać też butelki jakby idealne do namalowania martwej natury, łóżko z pościelą i okno, a także stary telefon. Podoba mi się styl i kolorystyka utrzymana w kilk zielono-brązowych barwach.
When I was walking around Lodz, I was reminding me of the old times. This was facilitated by the view of orange-red trams and familiar tenement houses, which are characteristic of Lodz.
Gdy spacerowałam po Łodzi przypominały mi się dawne czasy. Sprzyjał temu widok charakterystycznych dla Łodzi pomarańczowo-czerwonych tramwaji i znajomych kamienic.
Although it also happened that I came from completely new places. For example, I did not know about the Odlot gallery before, which was advertised by an interesting drawing and wooden plates - signs with a parrot sitting on one of them. It's fun to discover these new spots.
Choć zdarzyło się też tak, że trafiałam z zupełnie nowe miejsca. Np. nie wiedziałam wcześniej o istnieniu galerii Odlot, którą reklamował ciekawy rysunek i drewniane tabliczki - znaki z siedzącą na jednym z nich papugą. Fajnie jest odkryc takie nowe miejscówki.
