Argentina - Our last walk in El Chaltén: condors viewpoint and panoramic postcard of the town. 😃❤️

in Pinmapplelast year

Although my cousin and I had a great stay in the town of El Chaltén walking from here to there, by the last day we literally couldn't move. My legs hurt so much that I could barely walk up the stairs: I had been taking some medicines but after a few days they didn't work anymore, so I just had to put up with the pain a bit. But there I was, all unarmed but wanting to continue taking advantage until the last moment and that's what we did. Our bus to the next destination left at noon, so we had two free hours to take advantage between leaving the hostel and changing locations, and in that short time we did (suffering a bit) another short trek to the viewpoint of the condors ❤️.

This viewpoint was on the opposite side to the one we had been going the other days, so we could see the town from another point. Everything in El Chaltén is close: this is a small town of about 20 blocks where if you go a little further away you are already over the mountains. We walked a bit to the periphery and there a path of only 1 km uphill awaited us ❤️.

Two of the other important trails to do around here start from this side: one to a place called Loma del Pliegue Tumbado, 10 km away, and another to Laguna Toro, 17 km away. These trails are long, like the one we took on the way to Laguna de Los Tres, but they also lead you to beautiful landscapes like the ones we saw. We didn't do any of these trails due to lack of time, but they will be an excuse to go again one day. If they're going to be as cool as the ones we saw, they make you want to keep walking even though your legs hurt 😅.

Our last morning was quite windy - not that cold but the headwind was pushing you back making it difficult for everyone to walk. Supposedly it would take us only 30 minutes to go up: the trail was quite firm but it was a bit steep, so I think it took us a little longer. In the middle of the path, the path opened in two: one towards the viewpoint of the condors, and another towards the viewpoint of the eagles. The second one was only 15 minutes longer, but we decided to only do the one with the condors because we couldn't take any more climbs 😅.

As we went up, we saw the town on our left. I think that what they did in this place is great and that despite being so beautiful, it has not become so massive and retains its essence as a small town without large buildings. However, the offer to accommodate tourism is quite wide and for all budgets, so each visitor can feel comfortable on their vacation ☺️.

As if it were a gift from the last day, we could just see a couple of condors flying through the area. These birds are wonderful, we had seen them before on other trips to the mountains, but I think never so close. They always walk in pairs, they are those species that choose their partner for life, luckily very similar to humans 😅.

The end of the trail was one of the tops of the hills that surround the town. From there you could see everything, with the great landscape in the background. This is one of the most beautiful places I've been to and I was surprised to see that when I shared it on my other networks, many people didn't know about it. It is seen that it is not as widespread as other destinations, but I liked knowing that it might influence them to go. And if they want to take me back I won't refuse 😅.

And to close the walk, I swear that the wind in that part was such that it was hard for you to stay on your feet. I literally had a hard time staying on my feet because a strong wind pushed me and I fell into a bush with thorns haha. That was my memory of the last moments in El Chaltén, that's how nature said goodbye to me 😂.

Although we spent a short time walking around, I think we made the most of our time. Before going on this trip I doubted my physical condition, I already knew that I was going to have to walk a lot but luckily I survived. The leg pain was unavoidable, but it didn't stop me from doing everything I wanted. This destination is one that I will definitely return to, and now that I know what it is, I am going to spend more time with it. I would love to do the beautiful trails that I missed, mainly the one on the Loma del Pliegue Tumbado because it looks incredible and the photos never quite do it justice. Maybe it will be a trip for next summer, it will only be a matter of wishing it and materializing it again ✨.

Wow! The place is wide and great. When you are at the top, your eyes would enjoy the scene around and below. You can see a lot and it is relaxing.

About your legs, it was so stressed and that's why you can feel some pain.

Everything was so beautiful that you couldn't believe it. And I think my legs were tired because I had never walked so much in my life 😅.

Yes your muscles was shock with that great activity hehehe.

You guys have beautiful places there and I love the pictures.

Thank you ❤️
