Veules les Roses

Veules les Rose's is a small village located in Normandy France. It sits along the coast of the English channel just a short drive to the south of the city of Dieppe.

The town is a lot like Etretat in that it was built at the base of the chalk cliffs that border the Atlantic ocean. The cliffs are not the subject of this particular post though.

The town is quite small but packs a lot of charm. Half timber homes with thatched roofs, trout filled streams running between the houses, some with an old a mill or two thrown in here and there, are some of the things that make this town so special. As the name of the town suggests, there are also the roses, and gardens for that matter.

Veule les Rose's wasn't our main destination for the day. I believe we went on to Dieppe in the afternoon. I think all in all we maybe spent about 2 hours here.

But it was more than enough time to walk the streets to see all the unique homes and their beautiful gardens.

Moving on to another small town that we visited along our travels.

Pont Audemer

Pont Audemer is also located in the province of Normandy. It's a mid-sized town situated in a greenspace and has a claim to fame in the form of several canals that snake their way between the homes and through the city.

The town has been nicknamed "the Venice of Normandy" on some websites.... Please Stop. I don't really understand this obsession with cities comparing themselves to Venice. Every province seems to have its own version of Venice but they never compare, not even in the slightest.

The canals between the houses were pretty neat to see though. We even saw a few with fishing rods hanging out of kitchen windows. Nothing like catching fresh fish from inside your home. Unfortunately the fishing lines were too thin to show up in the photos though.

We didn't see anyone kayaking on the water but supposedly it is possible to do so in some areas as well. Anyway, one last photo of town. Its not of a canal, just a sign that I happened to see on one of the older buildings in town. I just like the old advert feel about it.

Thats it for now. Until next time. Thanks for reading!

Been missing your trips around the beautiful parts of France, so glad you're out and about again. Veules les Rose is so picturesque, almost got an English feel to it with the roses and thatched cottage roofs

Yeah we are slowly starting to venture out again after not doing anything for months. Our options are still very limited with everything being closed. I'm trying to find more hiking spots.

Magnifique endroit 😍
Ha ! ....Annecy est aussi la Venise savoyarde... 🤣

Oui! Je me souviens de ma visite là-bas en été.

That was a charming unplanned detour. Floral creepers around the archway or doorway are always pretty. The canals sort of remind me slightly of Brugge. Oops, I just compared them at least it's not Venice lol

Hahaha :)
Yes it is a bit like Brugges. I love canals in towns but there are tons of cities with them in France and Europe in general and they all seem to compare themselves to Venice for some reason. But its hilarious because they aren't anything even close to Venice none of them, so I don't really get it. Why not just say "We have canals!"
People love canals that should be enough Lol

Beautiful! I agree with @livinguktaiwan I have been missing your posts. This was wonderful. I am reading a book about the Churchill's called Lady Clementine and they vacation in Dieppe and you just gave me a visual! Thanks.

Glad it helped. The book sounds interesting.

I am enjoying it.

The pictures are so aesthetically appealing, makes me wish to travel France someday soon!😀
Those little canals between the houses street were very pleasing. Wonderfully captured!
Have a lovely Weekend.

Thanks, I'm glad you like the photos. France is definitely worth a visit if you get a chance.

Wow! Amazing places, wonderful photos!👌

Thanks. Glad you liked them
