Hello, friends. Yesterday I had the opportunity to get to know Yaguajay, a municipality in Sancti Spíritus, in north central Cuba. I have visited several municipalities in this province, but this one, in particular was practically devastated by a hurricane in 2017. But you can see that it has recovered from that unfortunate encounter with nature.

I had never had the opportunity to visit this place, which has some pretty nice places, but unfortunately has some buildings from the colonial era that are in a pretty deteriorated state.

The place that caught my attention the most was the José Martí Park, which is located in the center of the town. I imagine that this town was built around this park. A rather peculiar place, since it has two royal palms on both sides. These are accompanied by two busts, only one of which I was able to recognize. The National Apostle, which gives the park its name.

On one side there is a small church, a little strange, by the way, and a small playground. And on one side the most striking construction of the city, a building inaugurated on March 31, 1929 as the Municipal City Hall, current seat of government. A beautiful construction, which I could only take a picture of from afar, since it could cause me problems due to the political situation of the country.
Yaguajay turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Despite the blows it has received, it is still standing, showing its beauty and its history with pride. Definitely a place worth visiting and admiring.
