Everyone said that the most beautiful things in Portugal are heavenly beaches. I did not believe it because I have been to many beaches along the Atlantic Ocean and they have never impressed me too much, but this time it was definitely different.

Wszyscy mówili, że najpiękniejsze co jest w Portugali to niebiańskie plaże. Nie wierzyłem w to, bo byłem już na wielu plażach nad Oceanem Atlantyckim i nigdy nie zrobiły one na mnie zbyt dużego wrażenia, ale tym razem było zdecydowanie inaczej.

Right next to Lisbon, there is Cape Cabo da Roca, which is the westernmost part of the European continent. There are just over five and a half thousand kilometers to North America from here. Long ago, people thought that the most advanced part of Europe, and according to the thinking of the whole world at the time, was the Spanish Cape of Cabo Fisterra. However, you have to forgive them, because they are only wrong by a dozen or so kilometers. In 1772, at Cape Cabo da Roca, a lighthouse was put into use, which shines on the area from a height of 165m to this day.

Tuż obok Lizbony znajduje się przylądek Cabo da Roca, czyli najdalej wysunięta na zachód część kontynentu Europejskiego. Z tego miejsca do Ameryki Północnej jest niewiele ponad pięć i pół tysiąca kilometrów. Dawno temu ludzie myśleli, że najbardziej wysuniętą częścią Europy, a zgodnie z ówczesnym myśleniem również całego świata, jest Hiszpański przylądek Cabo Fisterra. Jednak trzeba im to wybaczyć, bo myli się zaledwie o kilkanaście kilometrów. W 1772 na przylądku Cabo da Roca roku oddano do użytkowania latarnię morska, która z wysokości 165m do dzisiaj świeci na okolice.

I do not know why it is Cabo da Roca that attracts the greatest number of tourists, it is the monument that was erected at the cape and an observation deck was made. Tourist information point, toilets, and parking for several dozen cars. To see something really beautiful you only need to go about a kilometer north of this place to Praia da Ursa. To get to it, you need to take a 15-minute walk along a steep path along the cliff. The descent was not difficult, the exit is a bit more tiring, but it is definitely worth it! The best part is that very few people know about this beach, so there aren't any crowds at all. Each of the sunbathers has a lot of space for himself and can find his own quiet place. It is probably because of this intimate atmosphere on the beach that there were a few nudists freely wandering on the sand or swimming in the ocean.

Nie wiem dlaczego to właśnie Cabo da Roca przyciąga największą liczbę turystów, to właśnie przy przylądku postawiono monument, zrobiono taras widokowy. Punkt informacji turystycznej, toalety, oraz parking na kilkadziesiąt samochodów. Aby zobaczyć coś naprawdę pięknego wystarczy udać się około kilometr na północ od tego miejsca do Praia da Ursa. Aby dojść do niej trzeba pofatygować się na 15 minutowy spacer po stromej ścieżce wzdłuż klifu. Zejście nie było trudne, wyjście jest trochę bardziej męczące, ale zdecydowanie warto! Najlepsze jest to, że o tej plaży wie bardzo mało osób, przez co wcale nie ma tam tłumów. Każdy z plażowiczów ma dla siebie bardzo dużo przestrzeni i może znaleźć swoje ciche miejsce. To pewnie z powodu tej intymnej atmosfery panującej na plaży było tam kilku nudystów swobodnie wędrujących po piasku lub pływających w oceanie.

We liked this place so much that we decided to pitch a tent on the beach and spend the night. However, we were a bit afraid of sleeping directly on the beach, because we had no clue whether there is high tide or low tide right now, and what the possible high tide means. The beach was very flat and even, therefore the fear that during the night we might be washed by the sea waves, we pitched our tent on the cliff above the beach. Staying overnight on a cliff in a tent about a kilometer from the lighthouse, all night we could observe the rhythmic light of the lighthouse moving in a pattern of three flashes, a pause, three flashes, a pause, three flashes…. And so on all night long. Supposedly all night, but not entirely, because around two in the morning a strong wind blowing from the ocean knocked down our tent and, a bit fearing for the condition of the tent, a bit fearing the risk of being blown off the cliff, we moved inland to the car for the rest of the night.

To miejsce spodobało nam się tak bardzo, że postanowiliśmy rozbić na plaży namiot i przenocować noc. Jednak trochę baliśmy się spać bezpośrednio na plaży, bo nie mieliśmy zielonego pojęcia czy obecnie jest przypływ, czy odpływ oraz jak znaczy może być ewentualny przypływ. Plaża była bardzo płaska i równa, dlatego też obawa, że w trakcie nocy możemy zostać podmyci przez morskie fale sprawiły, że namiot rozbiliśmy na klifie nad plażą. Nocując na klifie w namiocie w odległości około kilometra od latarni morskiej przez całą noc mogliśmy obserwować rytmiczne światło latarni poruszające się w schemacie trzy błyski, przerwa, trzy błyski przerwa, trzy błyski …. I tak dalej przez cała noc. Niby całą noc, ale nie do końca, bo około drugiej w nocy silny wiatr wiejący znad oceanu powalił nasz namiot i trochę w obawie o kondycje namiotu, trochę w obawie przez niebezpieczeństwem zdmuchnięcia z klifu przenieśliśmy się na resztę nocy w głąb lądu do samochodu.
