Today I am going to talk to you about the fifth of these beautiful bodies of water that form the so-called Route of the Seven Lakes in the heart of Argentine Patagonia.
I found this true natural paradise walking the 12th stage of Route 40 to which I referred in this article, and I stopped for a week, a bit to rest from the journey on top of the motorcycle through gravel roads, sometimes in poor condition, with the cold and wind from the Andes, to be able to admire this true wonder of nature.
Hoy les voy a hablar del quinto de estos hermosos espejos de agua que forman la llamada Ruta de los Siete Lagos en plena patagonia argentina.
Me encontré con este verdadero paraíso natural recorrer la 12ma etapa de la Ruta 40 a la cuál me referí en este artículo, y me detuve una semana, un poco para descansar de la travesía arriba de la moto por caminos de ripio, a veces en mal estado, con el frio y el viento cordilleranos, para poder admirar esta verdadera maravilla de la naturaleza.

Hoy les voy a hablar del Lago Villarino.
Name's origin. / Origen del nombre.
This lake is named after the Spanish sailor and explorer ** Basilio Villarino ** who explored the Limay river basin, although there are many doubts that he discovered the lake.
He has left, yes, numerous written testimonies about his work throughout the Limay river.
A dense vegetation characteristic of the Andean Patagonian forest covers all its slopes, protected by the natural environment of Nahuel Huapi Lake.
This lake is connected through a narrow channel with the Falkner Lake which I also told you about in this post.
Este lago lleva el nombre en homenaje del marino y explorador español Basilio Villarino quien exploró la cuenca del rio Limay, aunque existen muchas dudas que haya descubierto el lago.
Ha dejado, eso si, numerosos testimonios escritos acerca de su trabajo en toda la cuencia del rio Limay.
Una densa vegetación característica del bosque andino patagónico cubre todas sus cuestas, protegidas por el entorno natural del Lago Nahuel Huapi.
Este lago está conectado a través de un estrecho canal con el Lago Falkner del cuál también les hablé en este post.
How to get. / Como llegar.
You can access Lake Villarino as I did through Route 40 or directly from San Martín de los Andes.
It is only 52 km from this city, an icon of winter tourism.
Pueden acceder al Lago Villarino como lo hice yo a través de la Ruta 40 o directamente desde San Martín de los Andes.
Está a solo 52 kms de esta ciudad una icona del turismo invernal.

It has a well-organized campsite according to the standards of Patagonia.
Elementary but neat services.
Restaurant, accommodation, free camping, daytime use.
Cuenta con un camping bien organizado según los estandares de la patagonia.
Servicios elementales pero cuidados.
Restaurante, alojamiento, camping libre, uso diurno.
Fishing. / Pesca.
For those who love fishing, I tell you that Lake Villarino is populated mainly by rainbow trout.
To a lesser extent, brown trout and fontinalis are also caught.
I did not have time or opportunity to practice it, but trout fishing averages range between 500 gr and 2 kg, although it can occur with larger brown trout.
Para los aficcionados a la pesca les digo que el Lago Villarino está poblado fundamentalmente por truchas arco iris.
En menor medida también se capturan truchas marrones y fontinalis.
No tuve tiempo ni oportunidad de practicarla pero los promedios de pesca de trucha oscilan entre 500 gr y 2 kg, aunque puede darse con truchas marrones mayores.
