A while back I visited a place that I always wanted to go back to, it's Sweden's oldest inn...
Called Forshem.
I went there with my parents and it
was such a beautiful place and
the atmosphare amazing.
History
The history of the inn
starts as early as 1280 when Magnus Ladulås in Alsnö statutes prescribed that in every village there would be a man who could take care of the road users, all to remedy the so-called the rape which was a heavy burden for all affected, especially the peasants.
These men became
the first Inns.
One of the more prominent
of the farms!
In the coming centuries,
the inn had many functions, such
as post office, horse exchange place, courthouse, shop and as the
village's meeting point.
Forshem's Gästgivaregård became
one of the more prominent of
the farms, a hub and stop
to Kinnekulle and
western Sweden.
The story of Forshem's
Gästgivaregård goes hand in hand
with Forshem's church. The church is unique, it is the only burial church
in the Nordic countries,
dedicated to the tomb
of Christ.
It gained status as a burial church
during the troubled 13th century
when the crusades took
place in Europe.
The Christian pilgrims could not
secure their goal, the Church
of the Holy Sepulcher
in Jerusalem.
The church in Forshem was
expanded with cross arms, provided
with relics, and became the Nordic equivalent of the Church of the
Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.
In Jan Guilou´'s trilogy about
the Crusader Arn of Aranäs, one can
read that he is the person who
had the church built.
Arn is depicted on one of the
church's stone pictures together
with the church's builder!
Pilgrims, like good Christians, accepted
the trek to Forshem. These pilgrims
were called the Crusaders,
and still do today.

out of the ordinary.
I can only agree with it all,
it was a Great experience and I
love places with a interesting
history like this place.

talking about 😋

And the company
ofcourse 😁 lol
Isn't this just the cutest place?
And now it was time to get to our
rooms, and it was pretty neat
view of the social area here.
Didn't take much pictures of the
room, but a few atleast 😉
A little cute desk, and a bed that
actually was MUCH more
comfteble than it looks.
My dad comfteble testing the couch,
and he always has some funny
comments to crack us up 😁
I wish I had more pictures to share
from this place, but I hope you
get an idea from the
ones I had 😜
Why I wish to go there again, to
experience it all over again and see
more of the Environment
around the inn.

The oldest huh? Should be like a national landmark or something then 😁 that moose brings back some memories. I remember the first one I ever saw, it was standing in the middle of a little used road my grandfather and I were driving on with swamp on both sides. It stood there watching us as we parked waiting for it to move. Finally, it wandered off and snorted real low and made this huge path through the swampy much and weeds that you could have followed easily in a canoe. Love and hugs. 😘
