In addition to the airplanes at the airport, Leipzig has another attraction ready for me. I have to visit the most beautiful zoo in Germany and the second most beautiful in Europe, after Schönbrunn in Vienna! I wish you a nice trip in two parts!
Neben den Flugzeugen am Flughafen hat Leipzig für mich noch eine andere Attraktion parat. Den schönsten Tiergarten Deutschlands und den zweitschönsten Europas, nach Schönbrunn in Wien, muß ich besuchen! Ich wünsche Euch eine schöne Reise in zwei Teilen!
Gondwanaland
The zoo is divided into different themed areas and not far from the main entrance is the mysterious entrance to the largest tropical hall in Europe. Since many animals live freely in the hall, access is secured via a double-secured, darkened tunnel, a Soivenier sales hall and a rock canyon. In the darkened area we encounter primeval figures and are under the water of various lakes.
Der Zoo ist in verschiedene Themenbereiche gegliedert und nicht weit von Haupteingang entfernt ist der geheimnissvolle Zutritt in die größte Tropenhalle Europas. Da viele Tiere frei in der Halle leben ist der Zugang über einen doppelt gesicherten verdunkelten Tunnel, eine Soivenierverkaufshalle und eine Felsenschlucht gesichert. Im verdunkelten Bereich begegnen wir urzeitlichen Gestalten und sind unter der Wasserfläche verschiedener Seen.
Finally I reach the hall and am initially completely overwhelmed by its size.
Schließlich erreiche ich die Halle und bin erst einmal völlig überwältigt von deren Größe.
With outside temperatures of 30 degrees it is here a little warmer and humid. Really wet! It is not easy for me to breathe, a mask is compulsory here, after all we are in a pandemic. The hall roof stretches up to 34 meters above the heads. You are in the jungle, on treetop paths and under water. The paths are narrow and go up and down. There is life everywhere, colorful birds, insects and 17,000 plants, it's incredibly beautiful!
Bei Außentemeraturen von 30 Grad ist es hier nun noch eine klein wenig wärmer und feucht. Richtig feucht! Das Atmen fällt mir nicht leicht, hier ist Maskenpflicht, wir sind schliesslich in einer Pandemie. Bis in 34 Metern Höhe spannt sich das Hallendach über den Köpfen. Man ist im Dschungel, auf Baumwipfelpfaden und unter Wasser unterwegs. Die Wege sind schmal und gehen auf und ab. Überall ist Leben, bunte Vögel, Insekten und 17000 Pflanzen, es ist unglaublich schön!
A 400 meter long river invites you to explore with boats. High up in the treetops the air is particularly thick and I can only enjoy the whole thing to a limited extent, I will definitely come back here when it is not so hot outside.
Ein 400 Meter langer Fluß mit Booten läd zur Erkundung ein, von hoch oben in den Wipfeln ist die Luft besonders dick und ich kann das Ganze nur beschränkt geniesen, bestimmt komme ich hierher zurück wenn es draußen nicht mehr so heiß ist.
The path leads past a window that allows a view of the giant otter's playground. After a few more turns of the path it becomes clear that this is the 10m high waterfall. Later, the path goes under the surface of the water in the otter enclosure and you can watch them roll around. As with many other particularly beautiful points, however, taking photos is very difficult and I leave it and enjoy the moment.
Der Weg führt an einem Fenster vorbei der den Blick auf den Spielplatz der Riesenotter gestattet. Nach ein paar weiteren Windungen des Weges wird klar dass es sich um den 10m hohen Wasserfall handelt. Später geht der Weg dann noch unter die Wasseroberfläche des Ottergeheges und man kann sie direkt beim Herumtrollen beobachten. Wie bei vielen anderen besonders schönen Punkten ist das Fotografieren aber sehr schwierig und ich lasse es und geniese den Augenblick.
I'm saying goodbye to a Kirk dikdik, a dwarf antelope. Exhausted, I leave the hall and can move freely again in the outdoor area without a mask. The big and small animals there are presented in the next part.
Verabschiedet werde ich von einem Kirk-Dikdiks, einer Zwergantilope. Erschöpft verlasse ich die Halle und kann mich wieder frei und ohne Maske im Freigelände bewegen. Die großen und kleinen Tiere dort werden im nächsten Teil vorgestellt.

Die Tropenhale hat mich schon so begeistert, dass ich jetzt schauen muss mich weiter zu motivieren. Bei Deinem Bericht ist es mir zum Glück nicht schwer gefallen, da es ja einen 2` ten Teil gibt!.

Sehr interessant, man möchte sich das gleich mal ansehen. Was aber zZt. wohl nicht so einfach ist.
Und das mit dem Klima... das wird wohl auch im Winter nicht viel anders sein, denn solche Pflanzen und Tiere brauchen das. Für uns Menschen - besonders uns Mitteleuropäer - ist das nicht besonders angenehm. Aber wenigsten wimmelt es nicht auch noch von Malaria Mücken und Blutegeln wie im echten Urwald, hoffe ich mal.
Normal sollten dort nur 22-26 Grad sein bei fast 100% Luftfeuchte.
An dem Tag war es aber besonders heiß mit über 30 Grad.
Moskitos habe ich keine entdeckt, und nervende Kinder gab es dort auch keine, die waren zu sehr beschäftigt alles zu enddecken :)

Not all are free. Mostly birds are free to fly around.

Wow! This zoo is like a forest and a botanical garden!! It is not a zoo!! I never seen a zoo designed like this before!! How old is it?! The designer is a genius!
