Canal Journey from Tixall Wide to Stone

in Pinmapple2 years ago

Hail to the Hive !

Well after a beautiful few days at Tixall wide it's time to get our chug on and make moves as we do plan to get to Wales by February. Today we pan to get to the town of Stone and venture further into new canals and new territory.

We loved Tixall Wide and would love to be here in the summer as I can't think of a better beer and bbq canal side location. It's superb, but off we go

The Trent & Mersey Canal continues to please me with its wide, winding path surrounded by beautiful greenery.

This stretch really opens up and feels wide open to the countryside and we feel like we have the whole place to ourselves. No boats, no traffic. Only the occasional dog walker passing by and saying hello.

As the boat chug chug chugs beneath me my mind wanders and I feel realxed. I take a deep breath of fresh air. This is wonderful.

My Bridge fetish gets satisied with some interesting architechture along the way.

I do love a good bridge.

As is usual the locks must be negotiated and we are climbing a little higher with every lock.

It all feels so fresh and open with the clear blue skies making it feel super spacious.

We continue to snake through the countryside and farmland at our incredibly slow pace. No rush, no rush at all.

As the day slowly starts to come to an end we are near our destination.

I've enjoyed this section of the Trent & Mersey. I've had plenty of time to allow my mind to wander as the gorgeous Staffordshire countryside passes by.

We enter Stone and moor up. There's a nice vibe about the place. People saying hello and smiling on the tow path. We are close to shops and supplies and I feel in no hurry to leave, perhaps we will stay a few days. Why not? There's no rush. Wales will still be there in February

Not a bad sunset to finish the day either.

Loving this Canal Boat Life...

It is ideal when choosing a means of transport by boat. You're right, it provides slow, hasty times that only make us skim through the profound beauties. The mind is free to roam as it pleases
