Destination That Way from The Middle of Nowhere

in Pinmapple3 years ago

Hail to the Hive!

The voyage continues. We wake up to a lovely morning and savour it as we know there'some cold and wet stuff headed this way. Rain too. Yuck!

IMG-7341.PNG

So off we go as we want to find a place close to supermarkets and a decent mooring so we can stay inside, warm and cosy for a few days.

IMG-7342.PNG

We head off further down the Oxford Canal looking for the turn off the northern arm of the Grand Union canal , the weather is already showing signs that it may turn ugly. The turn off should be just ahead,I think is just ahead on the right.

IMG-7343.jpg

And so it is.

IMG-7344.jpg

More new territory for us. I love the not knowing exactly whats coming up. I am sure in time we will revisit sections many times and as I have found already with different weather and going in another direction it's always a bit different.

IMG-7345.jpg

Ah ha! Locks.

IMG-7347.jpg

and a water point. Best to top up. Always a good idea when the opportunity presents itself. We plan to just get through this first set of 3 locks and then moor up for the night and eat.

IMG-7346.jpg

This will do!

IMG-7348.jpg

The weather goes from sunny to cloudy, hot and cold, back and forth. It's been loke this a lot these past weeks. It's a nice pleasant evening though to cook, eat and relax,

IMG-7350.jpg

@millycf1976 works wonders in a small space.

IMG-7349.jpg

I do, of course help out. No really i do!

IMG-7351.jpg

Not a bad end to the days travels, worthy of a beer.

IMG-7352.jpg

The next morning we set off fairly early as we know there's a lot of locks coming and they slow and already slow traveling style down to an absolute crawl and we know rain is coming and do not want to be doing a lot of locks in the rain.

A very cute welcoming committee.

IMG-7355.jpg

We pass some nice permanent moorings in a very nice rurual setting. I like to admire the boats as we pass wondering what they are like on the inside.

IMG-7353.jpg

Hmm these guys even have parking for a car here.

IMG-7354.jpg

The weather is holding and it's been a very pleasant journey so far. We think we may possibly make Warwick if we are lucky.

IMG-7356.jpg

Of course it doesn't matter if we don't as we are already at home no matter where we are.

IMG-7357.jpg

Oh my days...

A LOT OF LOCKS!

IMG-7359.jpg

We are getting good at this now though.

IMG-7360.jpg

Another water point opposite an empty pub, a sad site. Too many empty canal side pubs.

IMG-7363.jpg

IMG-7362.jpg

More Locks

IMG-7364.jpg

More empty pubs.

IMG-7368.jpg

and more locks. It's getting to that time where i yearn for a nice mooring and a beer.

IMG-7369.jpg

Ask and ye shall receive!

We made it to Warwick!

The landscape around the Oxford Canal looks great!:)

Really superb scenery. Until now we have been lucky with the weather but now it's a bit gloomy :( I guess the greenery is a by product of the rain though haha

Hahaha yes I think so too :)

Wow I love those photos but I thought you are staying inthe Philippines😊, hmm maybe I’m wrong...

We left the Philippines 8 weeks ago. For us being in the tourism industry, well there is no tourist industry now so we decided to have another adventure :)

Sad to know its all because of covid, hope you’ll find your way back to Philippines again soon when everything is back to normal.

It may be a while. Now we have discovered a completely new way to live its going to be hard to walk away from this. Its a superb lifestyle

Wow very good enjoy your stay there and good luck on your new found lifestyle. Keep safe always!

You too 😀 and thank you @long888

Wow, what an amazing countryside. Those pictures are mind-blowing!!

Thanks @hasan706 thats really nice to hear 😃

The picture is nice and clearly. I like the picture in the river and make feel better with nature around us.

It really is beautiful to be surrounded by water and trees. We love it

Love it.!

Beer too.. LoL

Suggestion. A running map of your travels. A link or weekly post with where you have been and may go. Again, my Rand Mc Snaily road map has no coverage of those crazy canals your traveling. And I am too busy trying to stay afloat here to try and search the intrawebs for these places (maps) you float thru.

I think you are right. I have used a map before on some of the posts. Use my garmin watch a me do dad to do it but i often forget to charge it now i am not at full time work. Perhaps a recap of the whole journey so far? Hmm yup I think when we reach the next destination I will do that!

I switched to Garmin a few years back. Good electronics. Rands tablets and gps was an epic fail.
