Share Our World: Highlights of the Red Rock Scenic Byway

in Pinmapple11 months ago (edited)

State Route 179 in northern Arizona is also called the Red Rock Scenic Byway. It is a beautiful 7.5 miles of road that has some great pull outs.

It is definitely a must do while in Sedona.

To get to Sedona from Phoenix you take the I17 north. When you turn on the SR 179 that is where the Red Rock Scenic Byway starts and it ends in Sedona at the 89A.

View of Sedona heading north on the byway.

Bell Rock Vista Pullout

One of the pull outs that is on the byway is the Bell Rock Vista.

There is quite a bit of parking and some great views of Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte. You can park and an walk around and take pictures like we did the first day. There are a lot of hiking trails that start at Bell Rock Vista. I did the Bell Rock Pathway at sunrise and love it!

Courthouse Vista pullout

This is another pull out that is worth turning into. We didn't get out of the car here, we drove through to see the views.

More views heading north

Church of the Holy Cross

We took a quick detour and went to the stunning Church of the Holy Cross. To get to the church you take a right on Chapel Rd.

Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village

The Red Rock Scenic Byway goes right down the middle of the Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village. We had a great time looking around this very interesting shopping area. There are so many different stores, and art galleries, ice cream shops, a church. You can spend hours wandering around this area.

With the areas that we stopped at- Bell Rock Vista pullout, Courthouse Vista pullout, the Church of the Holy Cross and the Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village we spent 3 very enjoyable hours and it was all free!

Thanks so much @hoosie, it is such a cool city.

The church is a beauty, it imposes itself and intermingles with the place where it is. I have fallen in love with it. It would be great to visit this place someday. The black and white photography gives an impressive balance to the post. 🤩

Hi @neruel So glad you liked the church I will be doing a post on it soon. Thanks for the comments about the black and white pictures too!

In this kind of weather, whenever one goes for a walk, one feels a lot of relief, the way we see you are hanging out with your old friends and having a lot of fun. There are such areas about Pakistan, they are very beautiful and now the heat has come here, people must visit these areas. It's just so much fun to go to places like this and see the mountains etc. and the way we see the little one dollar candles inside are so beautiful. I really enjoy your trip. Thanks for sharing.

very beautiful mountains.. I think the trip there is very happy.

Yes, it was a great trip.

I love the views and all of your smiles... Each and everyone of you.

I love the church, it gave me some sort of calm when I scroll through to see you guys walking in.

The mountains are exotic too.

I am sure this trip to Sedona was fun because the pictures you shared gives off the possibility that it was.

Thank you for sharing 🔥

Hello @iskawrites Yes, the red rock mountains are very unique and exotic. I will be doing a post on the church soon.

Nice! I'll definitely be looking forward to it. Expect my presence 🔥🔥

Sedona is such a natural beauty, seeing you photos brings back a lot of happy memories... from many many visits.

=^..^=

Yay so happy I could bring back happy memories for you! :) That makes me happy.

I was opened my eyes through your post. a high red rock, I see it likes a mountain. That is wonderful site.

Hi @iamsonneymar Yes, this area in Arizona has great red rock formations and is so fun to visit!

The colors are so vibrant❤️‍🔥

The last picture really caught my attention and the green wall behind you is all covered with creeping fig plant or some other plant? I have searched a lot about such plants which can cover the whole structure like this and only creeping fig I have come to know.

Hi @rocksg I found this on the website for Talquepaque's history "Tlaquepaque is graced with climbing vines of sweet scented honeysuckle, purple clematis, ivy trumpet vine and silver lace. "
