Cathedral of Barquisimeto
Hello dear community, welcome to my blog, today we will take a walk through the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Carmen Barquisimeto and learn something of its history.
This is a must visit for anyone who is knowing the capital of Lara state in Venezuela, from afar you can see that this catholic church has a different and modern architecture, when we arrived we did not have luck on our side because we found it closed, however, inside there were some kids playing with their skateboards that jumped the fence to enter, we were not going to do that we preferred to find a part where to pass the bars underneath, the fact that it was closed did not prevent us from entering to take a closer look.😝

Hola querida comunidad, bienvenida a mi blog, hoy daremos un paseo por la Catedral de Nuestra Señora del Carmen Barquisimeto y conoceremos algo de su historia.
Esta es una visita obligada para toda persona que esté conociendo la capital del estado Lara en Venezuela, desde lejos se puede ver que esta iglesia católica tiene una arquitectura diferente y moderna, al llegar no tuvimos la suerte de nuestro lado porque la encontramos cerrada, sin embargo, adentro había unos chicos jugando con sus patinetas que saltaron la reja para entrar, nosotros no íbamos a hacer eso preferimos buscar una parte donde pasar las rejas por debajo, el que estuviera cerrada no nos impidió que entráramos a mirarla de cerca. 😝

It is very large on the outside and inside gives the impression of being small and cozy, my travel companions ran to take pictures in all directions, as we were late to continue our route. This cathedral has a very large cemented patio and good benches to sit and enjoy the breeze before or after mass.
I was able to look through a broken glass of the church and it reminded me of the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico, there is a resemblance, maybe it is a small replica or there is something that resembles one from the other, who copied who? Let's find out with the dates of construction.
Es muy grande por fuera y por dentro da la impresión de ser pequeña y acogedora, mis compañeros de viaje corrieron a sacarse fotos en todas las direcciones, ya que estábamos atrasados para continuar con nuestra ruta. Esta catedral tiene un patio cementado muy grande y buenos bancos para sentarte a disfrutar de la brisa antes o después de la misa.
Pude observar a través de un vidrio roto de la iglesia y me recordó a la basílica de Guadalupe en México, se dan un parecido, tal vez es una pequeña réplica o hay algo que se asemeja una de la otra, ¿Quién habrá copiado a quién? Vamos a averiguarlo con las fechas de construcción.
History
The Basilica of Santa Maria de Guadalupe was finished in the year 1708, it is older than the Cathedral of Our Lady of Carmen of Barquisimeto that we are knowing today, this is a cathedral that is far away from the old form of the colonial church, its construction began in 1953 and culminated in 1968 under the design of the architect Jahn Bergkamp, It is an unconventional architecture has a hyperbolic paraboloid shape, two wings joined through a central tower and required extensive structural calculations, as well as extreme care and precision in construction, its exterior shape is an upside down flower and is classified as a work of modern art.
The wooden benches inside the cathedral are huge, they could seat about 30 people in the longest ones, the floor is simple ceramic with classic designs, but the roof is something to highlight, it is formed by refractive safety glass that allows all the light from the sky to enter without being roasted by the sun, as they have a smoky effect.

La Basílica de Santa María de Guadalupe fue terminada en el año 1708, es más antigua que la Catedral de Nuestra Señora del Carmen de Barquisimeto la que hoy estamos conociendo, esta es una catedral que se aleja bastante a la antigua forma de la iglesia colonial, su construcción se inició en 1953 y culminó en 1968 bajo el diseño del Arquitecto Jahn Bergkamp, es una arquitectura nada convencional tiene forma de paraboloide hiperbólico, dos alas unidas a través de una torre central y requirió de extensivos cálculos estructurales, así como extremo cuidado y precisión en la construcción, su forma exterior es de una flor boca abajo y está clasificada como una obra de arte moderno.
Los bancos de madera que hay adentro de la catedral son enormes, se pudieran sentar unas 30 personas en los más largos, el piso es sencillo de cerámica con diseños clásicos, pero el techo es algo que hay que destacar, está formado por vidrios de seguridad del tipo refractivo que permite que, entre toda la luz del cielo sin ser rostizados por el sol, ya que tienen un efecto ahumado.
Look at the cathedral from several points and it is a very beautiful structure, its roof, windows and doors give the feeling of being in a Roman temple, full of luxury, inside it is well maintained, but outside there are areas of cement that do not give a good impression, they look worn and without preservation.
This cathedral is one of the most important Catholic temples in the country, every year thousands of people gather in the procession to venerate the Virgin of the Divine Shepherdess, patron saint of the state of Lara.
Mire la catedral desde varios puntos y es una estructura muy bonita, su techo, los ventanales y las puertas dan la sensación de estar en un templo romano, lleno de lujo, adentro está bien mantenida, pero afuera hay áreas de cemento que no dan buena impresión se ven desgastadas y sin preservación.
Esta catedral es uno de los templos católicos más importantes del país, todos los años se concentran miles de personas en la procesión de veneración de la virgen la Divina Pastora, patrona del estado Lara.

Entrar en esa iglesia es una de las experiencias mas hermosas que he vivido, es algo indescriptible que quisiera volver a repetir. Visitar a Barquisimito es todo un lujo, es una de las ciudades mas lindas de nuestro pais.
Si, así es Barquisimeto me dio una grata sorpresa, es muy lindo hasta debajo de sus puentes hay arte y vistas hermosas.. Me gustó mucho ese estado y aunque recorrí varios lugares me faltó conocer más. 😉🤗

No tenia idea que la iglesia se parecia a la de Mexico, lo wue si se es que esta es una replica del sombrero de la Virgen Divina Pastora o por lo menos eso fue lo que me contaron cuando estuve alli.
Ahh eso no lo sabia, si parece un sombrero 😁, los arquitectos también usan mucha símbologia.

Esa catedral es hermosa! Llegué a ir una sola vez, pero bastó y sobró. Parece pequeña, pero es imponente por dentro y con una vibra super fuerte también

Cathedrals are such an interesting place to visit during a journey especially because of the history and architecture. However, this one looks very different from what I've seen before and I love that!
