Hey Hive!

So if you missed the last couple of posts, we're currently on another journey to Japan after we finished our final semester of college back in January 2019! And it was coincidentally around Valentines' Day too! We initially talked about wanting to visit South Korea but a Delta Airlines deal kinda changed our plans so.. to Tokyo once again!

But this time we were staying somewhat outside Tokyo in an area called Omorimach! And last week, we finished up our trip to Fuji Q Highland by waking up to a beautiful sunrise with Mt Fuji and having a delicious buffet breakfast in our luxurious hotel, La Vista, before going down to Lake Kawaguchiko to grab some pics of the amazing view!

Anyway, after that we headed back to Shinjuku and ended up meeting a friend who came over to our apartment and we played games until we felt tired and went to bed. It was a fun time!

16 February 2019. Saturday.

We had a McDonalds near our place and since we all love Mcbreakfast, we made sure we woke up early enough to go grab breakfast together!

I opted to get a Big Breakfast this time, which was basically the same as Singapore's Breakfast Deluxe, which comes with 2 Mcmuffins, scrambled egg, a patty and 2 hotcakes. Also the set comes with hashbrowns and a drink and I think those were served later with the hotcakes but I forgot to take a photo. welp.

It was delicious though! And a great start to another awesome day! Because after that we went back to our apartment and played more games!

We ended up gaming until 1pm or so since our friend had to leave after that.

So we took the train together back to the main part of Tokyo and Sean and I ended up in Shinagawa!

It was around 4pm at the time and we were getting hungry for lunch so we opted for one of our favourites - tendon tenya!

I've written about this place on tasteem quite some time ago, but it's one of our go-to places for tempura because it's affordable, crispy and delicious! I wasn't too hungry, so I didn't go for my usual set which includes a small bowl of soba and just got the tempura bowl.

But Sean got that set with the bowl of soba so I could at least have a few spoons of soup.

Time for yummies!

And it was soo good! The tempura was crispy but not dry, and the sticky Japanese rice was so good with the sweet sauce. The miso soup made the rice not too dry too.

After that we saw a KitKat "factory" in Ginza! And they had this Sublime Volcanic display?

I'm not sure what this was about, but there was a very nice KitKat tower!

And KitKat props too so you just know what we had to do.

And dayum it was so crowded! I guess there's such a high demand for KitKat that they had to make a whole Chocolatory in Ginza!

There was such a wide range of flavours of KitKat! I'm not sure if these other flavours are available in other countries but I've only ever seen the special flavours in Japan.

There were these drawers with so many different types of KitKat!

It was kinda crowded but there was a nice mirror wall so it was mirror selfie time!

They even had a cafe on the second floor! We didn't go there though since it was really crowded.

They even had a special menu! But of course most of it was chocolates and since I don't have much of a sweet tooth we didn't bother. And we didn't buy anything either since it was quite pricey. But I imagine people who love KitKat would love this place!

This is what the shop front looks like! I'm sure they also have a create your own KitKat bar somewhere in there so if you want to try it out head to Ginza!

We didn't really have much of a plan here, other than checking Uniqlo and seeing if they have our favourite shirt for Sean in stock.

So we headed to the biggest Uniqlo!

This was one of the coolest shops to photograph in because of all the lights and reflections.

The shirt we were looking for was unfortunately out of production since it was from an older LINE Friends UT collection, but it wasn't around anymore sadly.. They did have anew collection called Hokusai Blue though, based on the famous Kanagawa Wave painting I'm sure everyone has seen before.

Some of the shirts actually looked pretty nice to be honest, but it was quite pricey since it's a new collection.

After we were done browsing, we headed out and came across a familiar brand, Bee Cheng Hiang! They're famous for their bakkwa/rougan, aka sweet dried meat or jerky, here in Singapore! And they were giving out free samples!

Never thought we'd be eating bakkwa in Japan but here we are! We didn't buy any of course, but I guess it was pretty good and definitely a familiar taste.

There were some pretty lights here at Tokyo Kotsu Kaikan so we decided to go check it out!

It was just another shopping mall, but we went in to take a look anyway and bought more snacks!

Like our favourite cookie cream puff from Beard Papa!

And a PABLO mini cheese tart!

We also took a look in some anime merch shops looking for some rare Ace Attorney stuff but obviously most of these I didn't really recognise.

It was still cool to see I guess. And in a wide endless ocean of anime and manga in Japan I guess it's hard to find a specific series, especially one that is quite niche.

There were some DC stuff here too though.

But I think that's gonna be all for today! Tune in next week for where we visit next! Hint: there's cuteness overload!

Thanks so much for reading!
