I am back in Sarajevo for a bit, and I did some walking around town.
I have been noticing the memorials from the seige of Sarajevo.
This is a memorial to the First Police Brigade for Stari Grad.
It is in the park that I like to sit in, right by where the old men play chess.
As I continued walking, I saw this one. It's a memorial to the children who were killed in the siege, which lasted 3 years.
There are also spots where mortar shells blasted the concrete that have been filled with red resin.
These mark places where 3 or more people were killed in the siege.
They are in various parts of the city. This one is really close to the park that I sit in.
The resilience of this city is astonishing, as today it is full of life and love.
The memorials are the only trace that I see of the things that happened here 30 years ago.
I hope it stays that way forever, and I hope the other cities that are being overwhelmed with hatred today can see what it truly brings, and just skip it.
The park loos great to just sit and relax a little bit:)
It's so sad what happened there, the children's memorial is simple but so powerful.
I thought it was just a cool sculpture until I got close.
It's truly hard to believe it happened in this city.
