The Grand Werribee Mansion Park

in Pinmapple2 years ago (edited)

When the sun shines after a long winter, there's nothing better than getting in the car and going for a drive. Last weekend, we decided to head to Werribee Melbourne on the first sunny spring day. The journey was beautiful, with the blossoming trees and fields of flowers.

We stopped by here on the way to Werribee Mansion Park. This is called Werribee River. The River runs through the park and there are plenty of trees and grassy areas to relax in. Such a beautiful countryside view:)

We arrived at our destination Werribee Masion Park and had a lovely day exploring around and enjoying the sun and fresh air. The park is a great place to take a stroll, have a picnic or just enjoy the scenery.

The gate is very grand. You can only imagine what was beyond them- very opulent almost royal statue made of stone and handcrafted that were expensive to make but quiet statement to visitors to the residents.

Werribee Mansion is a stunning example of 18th-century architecture and is one of Melbourne's most popular tourist attractions.

I'm told that Werribee Mansion is a historic house set on larrge hectares of land in Werribee, Victoria, Australia. The property was originally owned by the Chirnside family, who were among the pioneering settlers of the Western District of Victoria. They own lots of land from Altona to almost Gelong.

Today, the Mansion is a popular tourist destination and is surrounded by Werribee Zoo and Golf Course (we promise to come back next time to visit the Zoo and Golf Course 😄), and Werribee Park, which contains numerous gardens.

It was a lazy day and we just picked a spot in front of the Mansion House to lay down. The front lawn is a great spot to enjoy the sun or have a picnic. The lawn is spacious and well-manicured, making it the perfect place to relax. Picnicking is allowed in front of the mansion, so long as visitors clean up after themselves. I'm sure the lawn is also a popular spot for weddings and other events.

To build the house, a lot of money must be spent and many people must be employed. It's hard for me to imagine how wealthy they are. The mansion house- oh wow, it's like a castle, and I was amazed at how vast and open the park is. It seems like there is an endless amount of space to explore. You could easily spend hours walking around and taking in all the sights and sounds.

One of the first things we noticed when we visited the place were the trees. Many of the trees in Atlanta's parks are more than 100 years old. They are massive !! There are more than just a few different types of trees in the park and they're from different parts of the worlds. They're all labeled so you can read about them as you walk by.

The park is a true oasis in one of the fastest growing suburbs in Melbourne's west- Werribee. As I've learned from the local that the suburb has seen a population boom in recent years, with more and more people moving to the area. The suburb is also well-connected, with good transport links to the city. So if you're looking for something to explore in the west of Melbourne, Werribee is definitely worth considering. And the mansion itself is open to the public and is highly recommeded.

The trip made us realize how much we had been missing being outdoors. It was the perfect way to welcome in the spring season. We can't wait for more sunny days so we can explore more of Victoria. 🙂

I am always in awe how much labor was used to build these estates. Such a grand one, spanning miles of beauty.

What a beautiful welcome the gate makes. It did make me wonder what lay beyond. The grandeur is beyond what most of us are accustomed to, but I would say it was tastefully done, quiet money. :)

What a lovely place to lay, enjoying its presence and that sweet sunshine!

Hi, Trang! @trangbaby

Hey hey Sweetie, you're so right, it's an absolutely breathtaking estate with the beautiful gardens and beautiful grand building. The inside is truly spectacular something fits for royalty

It is my pleasure to be able to show you a glimpse of this beautiful reflection of wealth of yesteryears.

I'm very appreciated your comment and thanks so much for reading. Happy Wed !!

These grand old estates always fascinate me. What life and history could they tell? Imagine having a home on that scale with those gardens spread before you on every waking sunrise. Your photos, and the words really invite the imagination @trangbaby

It's a interesting question @buckaroobaby. From what I've been told and from research, Werribee was a common place for travelers to stop overnight during the late 1840s. Thomas Chirnside, a Scotsman who moved here first, saw a lot of potential here, so he decided to build many shops and hotels on the land. Werribee has grown into a thriving city since then... It seems very fantastic.

Thanks for stopping by and I really appreciated your kind words. :)

Fantastic indeed. Thanks for the extra history
