Hows it going hive?

So over the weekend we went on a quick little getaway to Stradbroke island for my girlfriend's birthday.

Stradbroke Island is about a 30 minute drive from Brisbane's CBD to the ferry.

One afternoon we went to Brown Lake.

It is only a 10 Min drive from the ferry. It's sealed roads until you get to the Brown Lake turn off. Then it's a dirt road from there.

This is such a beautiful spot to relax and have a swim or paddle board.

The lake is fresh water and it's in the middle of Stradbroke Island. Which is the second largest sand island in the world.

The lake has a brown colour to it, from the teatree leaves that line the bottom of the lake.

The lake is 1km long and the water is very calm. Fish also live in this lake.

Yo will also notice the lake has more of a beach feel with the fine white sand beneath your feet.

Also the lake is home to some beautiful goanas.
These guys roam around the car park in search of food. Just don't get to close to these beasts!

So if you ever get to visit straddie as the locals call it, definitely add Brown Lake to your list.

Happy travels 😊

Awesome thank you very much 🙏

I don't think I have ever seen a goanna in the wild. I have heard thah of scared, they will climb the tallest tree, even if that tree is you.

Yes when they are scared they do climb trees even if that is you haha. You will normally find these goanna's half way up trees.

They climb people too sometimes for sure...Big ass claws too. They say to hit the dirt of one comes at you...I think I'd be running like fuck. I'm surprised you haven't seen one in the wild actually.

Great news 😊

Good pictures and a top spot. I was wondering, seeing the lake, have you been to Fraser Island? Lake McKenzie in particular? Same sort of lake, stained brown by the gum leaves, but it has pristine beaches...It's a stunning place. I guess you've probably been there considering you live up that way. Your pictures just reminded me of it.

I sure have been to Fraser a couple of times. Such a beautiful island.
Stradbroke island is just as amazing full of wildlife and perfect beaches as well. The best part is it's very close to Brisbane city. North stradbroke has sealed roads, so you don't need a 4x4 to get around most of the island.

I've been to South Stradbroke, and Fraser of course, so bloody amazing. We were there for a week. Will get back one day. I've not been to North Straddy.

That is awesome! They are both amazing places!
I still haven't been to south straddie due to lack of 4x4 ownership haha. But I will convince one of my mates to let me tag along in the near future.

There's so many great spots to see and enjoy around the place. I love having a 4x4 as it means I can get places many can't. I'm sure you'll be able to convince your mates that need to take you. Camp out for a few nights...Bloody beauty!

Straddie sure is my favourite place. Yeah those lizards are super cool, very intimidating though haha.
