Hi there Hive Family,
And just as I thought that winter is gone, we had huge amounts of it fall on our mountain slopes while the cities remained relatively dry.
So me and a Friend of mine decided that we are not going to waste the day in the city smog but rather hop on the car and drive to Vitosha mountain.
Because she did not have experience in winter time, we decided to take the most touristic route to Black Peak which is via Aleko hut and is aproximately 2 hours hike to the top.
Aleko hut is actually the central point of a few slopes that attract a lot of ski and snowboard enthusiasts.
Anyway, our path leads us through the woods and the destination lies above 2290 meters.
This was the starting point.
We had to pass by a terrain of not so much trodden path.
This is my friend Yoana struggling through the pathway, but happy to be part of this journey.
Some clean shots of the nature around us.
All trees were covered with a lot of snow. This shows just how much it has snowed over the past week.
And so we reached the main path to Black Peak. It was all cleaned by an active snow groomer that we commonly call ratrac.
It was so well cleaned that there were a lot of people skiing.
And also snowboarding with speed 😁
Looking back at what we have travelled so far. Not bad at all.
Finally, we are there. The person at the top is actually seeing the coffie house of Black Peak.
The surroundings at the top were like no other. Everything resembled as if we were in an Ice Age.
Yoana believes she can fly 😁😁. But seriously, she was very happy with our hike and was so glad to be there in such a nice weather. It was really warm with barely any wind.
The sun must not be underestimated. With hot weather comes burning sun. It was nearly impossible to look without the sunglasses. Also it was really nice idea to apply some sunscreen cream, which to be honest, we didn't and got very red the next day 😅
This is the so called coffie house of Black Peak. You can eat and rest there but not sleep.
Front view of the building. There were actually a lot of ski and snowboard enthusiasts who climbed the same route like us with their equipment in backpacks or dragging it tied with a climbing carabiner and a rope. They then later just sloped down to the bottom in an off-road fashion. The best part of it, absolutely free of cost and a great overall workout for the body.
This wooden bear is the symbol of the peak. The stairs lead to the entrance of the coffie house and the sledge-ATV is not mine 😁 Belongs to the Mountain Rescue Team but was great to include it in my photos 🙃
A selfie with my beautiful friend. She looks amazing on every photo that I take. I guess some people are just photogenic by nature.
We decided to check out a little more of the surroundings before going in for a snack and warmth. This place looks absolutely marvelous so we approached it to take some photos.
The people there were kind enough to take a picture of us, half stuck in the snow ocean 💪
And here is my personal favourite picture of the day. I would say, this is the bomb 😃
I also spoke with a dog 😃 The weather was accomodating. Pets could easily climb the peak barefoot and feel amazing.
These are the views from the opposite side of the mountain. In the distance we can see Rila mountain. I have a few blogs with peaks in it like Musala, which is the highest peak in the whole Balkan peninsula.
Time to relax and eat. View from the front door.
The dining hall. On the left we have the fireplace.
Well rested, it is now time to go back.
The Ratrac in its whole beauty leveling the slopes.
With such vast areas, there are a lot of diverse attractions like paraplanning with ski or snowboard.
Amazing nature. Like a fairy tale.
Just another casual photo. No posing.
The trail to hut Aleko.
The fairy tale is almost over. This is the forest just before the hut.
All trees were so full of snow that we were showered while passing through. It is all intentional, I am sure 😂😂
We lived yet another wonderful experience in the mountain. I explained to her all about blogging and Hive and she is interested in trying it out. I do not want to overwhelm her so for now she requested that I include her Instagram profile in my blog so I will just link it here. If anybody is interested in checking her profile out, you are welcome to do so and why not follow her. She is a talented girl.
As always, thank you so much for visiting my blog and I look forward to creating more quality blogs which will be available only on the Hive platform and nowhere else.
Stay happy, be peaceful!
Namaste
