It has been days since my last post where I tell my great day at the beach with my girlfriend, as it has also been several months since I do not go to Pedro Garcia, this place is located on the old road Caracas-La Guaira or Carretera Caracas-La Guaira is the name given to a road transport route that connects the city of Caracas with the state of La Guaira in the north central South American country of Venezuela. As in several of my posts I have told that I live in La Guaira and to get to Caracas you go up the main highway.

At 5:50 am the ascent began.

Before the Caracas-La Guaira highway was inaugurated on December 2, 1953, there was the fastest route to get to the capital, called and nicknamed "the old road". This road is no longer so busy, I can say with total certainty that it is now only for cyclists, it is very rare to see a car on this road, it is quite lonely, you can hear the least when you are riding alone on the road.

In the middle of the route, the sun was shining more strongly

🏞️On August 3th I wake up at about 5:30 in the morning and get ready to go to the old road to be exact to Pedro Garcia, I have a good breakfast, I keep all the necessary things for the road, like spare guts, pump, patches and necessary tools, water, couple of chocolates, telephone and my ID card. Everything ready to climb the mountain and exercise and get in shape again to go to the next routes in the future.

🌄The day before I had arranged with several acquaintances to climb but at the last minute they could not or had to work but I still decided to climb alone, hoping to meet other acquaintances on the route. I go out to the main road and I see that two older cyclists are climbing, but physically they look like veterans in the discipline and I start my ascent to the old road accompanied by them.

At this point there was still a long way to go to reach the objective📌

That's why I love going to the mountains. To admire this kind of views🌳🌳

📍After climbing with these cyclists, approximately 25 minutes, I decide to stop to drink water and take some photos for the memory, edit and put them in this story. The truth is that my goal was not to climb in a short time but on the contrary, I wanted to be climbing calmly to admire the views, take many photos and have that moment to clear my mind of some problems and also feel that tranquility

A rather dangerous curve when going downhill⚠️

🗣️Let's go! It won't be long now!

Also to feel the air so pure and clean that you can breathe on this route is something that I love, as I said, it is a place where there are no people, it is totally solitary, you can even hear the animals among trees and it gives you the feeling of being super small in such a big world, you get to think about valuing the simple things and without much value, like thanking life because you are healthy and you can do such activities, so my mind acts and motivates me to move forward in the ascent.

Talking with some acquaintances and resting to continue climbing.

The old road makes me think so many things that I don't know how to describe, what I know for sure is that I will continue going and enjoying the views that this route has. When I'm about to arrive to Pedro Garcia, I meet three acquaintances, after about an hour and a half without talking to anyone, I start chatting with those guys, until I arrive.

Iron bridge

After a short time drinking water and taking pictures in Pedro Garcia, we decided to go up to a place we call iron bridge, I had already been there four times but they had never been, so better because we were going and they knew it. We arrived and started taking more pictures and talking about the next routes. Then we decided to go down and well for those who know about cycling and the satisfaction after having ridden for a long time uphill, the descent was coming with many curves and a lot of adrenaline. I will always climb The Old Road.

Already at this point I wanted to start the descent and pick up speed 😂.

One last postcard to say goodbye to the old road.

That looks like an absolutely fantastic ride! Having an entire highway used only by cyclists must be just amazing. Great view too. Thanks for sharing!

I'm glad you read my post and liked it. Certainly the old road is a fantastic place, I hope to get up there more often.
