This is a historical site we saw in our time in Brittany. This time, we were in Morlaix, at Guimiliau Parish Close. Built in the 16th and 17th centuries, it has many gothic and renaissance features that makes it worth the stop.

This "calvary" is covered with amazing statuary depicting the life of Christ. It's worth reading further at Wikipedia which lists all the scenes included.

My son below, then aged 3 - turns 24 next week.

Beyond the calvary is the Saint Anne funeral chapel.

Outside had beautiful stonework at every turn.

I have to guess that this the outside of the sacristy, (sometimes called a vestry) where holy garments and other things are kept by the priests.

I did not have the skills (or the camera) at the time to take good indoor pictures, but I founds some amazing ones online for you... Wikipedia, of course. But the best ones I saw were on the InfoBretagne site. It's also worth taking this virtual tour on YouTube.

Very interesting building, I bet some ghosts are wandering over there! 👻

Probably - including the one of Saint Miliau who was decapitated by his own brother... There may be some restless spirits...
