Pathfinder Dam - Wondrous Wyoming

in Pinmapple4 years ago

This may not be one of the more spectacular dams you see, but it's not too common to have the outflow coming out the way it does at Pathfinder - nor for that part to be in such a narrow canyon.

Below the outflow are a group of pelicans who seem to love the forceful water here - maybe there's a bunch of fish there as well...

A view across the overflow as we went around to the actual dam. (Towards Pyramid Peak - and the weather is not really holding.)

Looking down at the outflow from the dam.

The outflow via a set of pipes is rather inelegant, but it does the job. Interesting to note some seepage from the rocks, I guess there are other paths through, maybe one will break through one day to make an alternate outflow.

A gif is coming for you of the above, @drakernoise - it's amazing how many little slivers had to come off the pair of pictures to make it work, but it's a good one.

Here's a video of Pathfinder Dam...

And during overflow...

Below, we have more pictures of flowers. First, sedum lanceolatum.

More Potentilla arguta or Sticky Cinquefoil

and

Agoseris glauca or False/Mountain Dandelion and probably Rosa woodsii one of our wild roses.

oh wow, those pictures are just amazing - such a beautiful landscape around that dam 😊

Thank you! I often realize how lucky I am to live here.

I actually can't complain either - we live in a very green environment and I should actually go out more with my camera to take some pictures :)

Yeah, you should. ;)
