Hace unas semanas estuve jugando un panamericano de ajedrez y la verdad es que obtuvimos unos resultados increíbles, aquí dejo el post en donde explico los aspectos referentes a la competencia.
A few weeks ago I was playing a Panamerican chess tournament and the truth is that we got some incredible results, here I leave the post where I explain the aspects related to the competition.
El ajedrez es un deporte que se caracteriza por el alto nivel de procesamiento mental que un jugador necesita para desempeñar el juego, resulta sumamente lógico que tras una larga jornada de intensa competencia el cuerpo en general esté súper agotado.
Chess is a sport that is characterized by the high level of mental processing that a player needs to perform the game, it is extremely logical that after a long week of intense competition the body in general is super exhausted.
Luego de haber jugado este Campeonato de ajedrez la organización del evento nos invitó a una excursión a las aguas termales de Santa Rosa, este es un increíble destino turístico ubicado a unos 45 minutos de la Ciudad de Pereira-Colombia.
After having played this chess championship, the organization of the event invited us to an excursion to the hot springs of Santa Rosa, this is an incredible tourist destination located about 45 minutes from the city of Pereira-Colombia.
Estar en contacto con la naturaleza siempre cae de maravilla especialmente cuando has pasado toda una semana llena de altas tensiones; agentes como la fatiga, el cansancio y el estrés alteran tu sistema en gran medida así que tomarse un respiro para llevar las cosas con más calma es la medicina perfecta.
Being in contact with nature is always great especially when you have spent a whole week full of high tensions; agents such as fatigue, tiredness and stress alter your system to a great extent so taking a break to take things more calmly is the perfect medicine.
Al momento de dar el primer paso en este parque me sentí con una gran energía sin mencionar la muy cálida sensación de bienestar y frescura que experimentaba mi cuerpo. Gracias a su ubicación en una zona rural el verde es el color predominante, no es para menos ya que la cordillera central colombiana es el epicentro de esta magnifica experiencia, así es, inmensos y prolíficos bosques conforman este espectacular paisaje. Al adentramos más y más en la densa selva llegamos al principal atractivo de este viaje.
The moment I took my first step in this park I felt a great energy, not to mention the very warm sensation of wellbeing and freshness that my body experienced. Thanks to its location in a rural area, green is the predominant color, not for less since the Colombian central mountain range is the epicenter of this magnificent experience, that's right, immense and prolific forests make up this spectacular landscape. As we go deeper and deeper into the dense jungle we arrive at the main attraction of this trip.
Al entrar en las instalaciones del complejo se debe presentar el carnet de vacunación, luego de las respectivas medidas de Bio-seguridad se nos brinda el acceso, en esta zona debemos ascender por una empinada colina. Que les puedo decir, de principio a fin verán imponente flora y vegetación, desde el primer segundo la experiencia es total, todo un deleite para los turistas y amantes de la naturaleza.
Upon entering the facilities of the complex you must present your vaccination card, after the respective bio-security measures we are given access, in this area we must climb a steep hill. What can I tell you, from beginning to end you will see imposing flora and vegetation, from the first second the experience is total, a delight for tourists and nature lovers.
En este recorrido inicial se pueden apreciar pequeñas cascadas de agua, por su puesto que antes de seguir caminando los muchachos y yo nos tomamos unas cuantas fotos en este paraíso verde.
In this initial tour you can see small waterfalls of water, of course before continuing walking the boys and I took a few pictures in this green paradise.
Al cabo de varios minutos llegamos a la zona donde las aguas de los ríos convergen con el brote de aguas proveniente de los volcanes de la región. En concreto hay dos áreas en la que los turistas pueden darse un refrescante chapuzón, en este post yo denominaré estas áreas como la parte fría y la parte caliente, por simplicidad claro. La zona donde el agua es más fría se puede apreciar una gran cascada, para algunos lo helado del agua es casi intolerable por lo que pueden dirigirse si a si lo prefieren a la parte del agua caliente en las piscinas donde hay una interesante historia detrás.
After several minutes we arrived at the area where the waters of the rivers converge with the water springing from the volcanoes of the region. In particular there are two areas where tourists can take a refreshing dip, in this post I will call these areas as the cold part and the hot part, for simplicity of course. The area where the water is colder you can see a large waterfall, for some the icy water is almost intolerable so they can go if they prefer the part of the hot water in the pools where there is an interesting story behind.

Según nos indicó el encargado de turno, el yacimiento de agua principal está más o menos a unos 90ºC.

El parque natural de los nevados cuenta con distintos volcanes como: El volcán nevado del Ruiz, del Tolima, etc. Esta agua caliente al seguir su camino se encuentra con las heladas cascadas y produce un vapor espectacular. Los dueños de esta hacienda pudieron percatarse de este fenómeno desde hace ya más de medio siglo y mediante el ingenio y mucho esfuerzo construyeron toda una estructura la cual consiste de unas tuberías que guían el agua caliente hacia las piscinas naturales y así el agua se regula a unos 39-40ºC más o menos.
The natural park of the snow-capped mountains has different volcanoes such as: Nevado del Ruiz volcano, Tolima volcano, etc. This hot water on its way meets the icy waterfalls and produces a spectacular steam. The owners of this hacienda noticed this phenomenon more than half a century ago and through ingenuity and a lot of effort they built a whole structure which consists of pipes that guide the hot water to the natural pools and thus the water is regulated to about 39-40ºC more or less.
Este tipo especifico de aguas termales se denominada “aguas telúricas” , no tienen olor ni sabor. En teoría no son aguas medicinales como tal pero las personas tienen la costumbre de bañarse en ellas con la esperanza de sanar algunas dolencias. Muchos emplean estas aguas para tratamientos corporales y terapias de relajación.
This specific type of thermal water is called "telluric water". They have no smell or taste. In theory they are not medicinal waters as such but people have the habit of bathing in them in the hope of healing some ailments. Many use these waters for body treatments and relaxation therapies.
En concreto las aguas encontraras en esta parque son aguas alcalinas, es decir que el nivel de PH presente en estas aguas está por encima del valor de 7, en otras palabras, es rica en minerales como el calcio, el sodio, potasio y también el magnesio. Entre los beneficios más palpables de estas aguas vemos que nos ayuda a desintoxicar el cuerpo, fortalece nuestro sistema inmunológico, contribuye al embellecimiento de la piel entre otros. Así es, toda una experiencia positiva al darnos un buen baño en estas fuentes de vida.
Specifically, the waters found in this park are alkaline waters, meaning that the PH level present in these waters is above the value of 7, in other words, it is rich in minerals such as calcium, sodium, potassium and magnesium. Among the most tangible benefits of these waters we see that it helps us to detoxify the body, strengthens our immune system, contributes to the beautification of the skin among others. That's right, it is a positive experience to take a good bath in these font of life.
Ya con la debida instrucción nos lanzamos al agua, primero en las aguas heladas y luego en las más calientes, sin duda es todo un conjunto de sensaciones, sinceramente pensaba que esos drásticos cambios en la temperatura afectarían de una u otra forma la salud pero nada más alejado de la realidad, el nivel de relajación fue increíble, de hecho, el dolor de cabeza que venia arrastrando durante toda la semana por la presión del campeonato se desvanecio muy rapidamente al entrar en contacto con las aguas alcalinas.
With the proper instruction we jumped into the water, first in the icy waters and then in the warmer ones, no doubt it is a whole set of sensations, I sincerely thought that these drastic changes in temperature would affect in one way or another the health but nothing further from reality, the level of relaxation was incredible, in fact, the headache that had been dragging all week by the pressure of the championship faded very quickly when in contact with the alkaline waters.
En el gif se puede apreciar el vapor que sale de las piconas, esto es el efecto de choque entre agua fría y caliente que les comenté anteriormente. En esta zona la gente puede pasar un rato muy agradable, compartir con amigos, disfrutar es la norma. La administración del parque constantemente anunciaba por el megáfono las medidas de seguridad que los usuarios deben seguir, por ejemplo, es casi obligatorio que la inmersión a las aguas se haga muy cuidadosamente, empezando con las puntas de los pies y asi pcoco a poco hasta llegar a la parte del cuello. La inmersión debe hacerse con la debida responsabilidad para que los bruscos cambios de temperatura no nos afecten en nuestro momento de relajación.
In the gif you can see the steam coming out of the piconas, this is the effect of shock between cold and hot water that I mentioned before. In this area people can spend a very pleasant time, share with friends, enjoy is the norm. The administration of the park constantly announced through the megaphone the safety measures that users must follow, for example, it is almost mandatory that the immersion to the water is done very carefully, starting with the tips of the feet and so little by little until you reach the part of the neck. The immersion must be done with due responsibility so that the abrupt temperature changes do not affect our moment of relaxation.
Nuestra estadía en este atractivo lugar fue de varias horas aprovechamos al máximo cada minuto, pudimos recuperarnos y descansar bastante, como les digo el efecto de estas aguas sobre el organismo sentó de maravilla. Llegada la noche nos retiramos y regresamos al hotel en Pereira, pero antes de finalizar el día dimos un paseo por los alrededores de la plaza Bolivar en la que habia un espectáculo de luces con motivo de la navidad.
Our stay in this attractive place lasted several hours, we made the most of every minute, we were able to recover and rest a lot, as I said the effect of these waters on the body felt wonderful. At night we retired and returned to the hotel in Pereira, but before the end of the day we took a walk around the Plaza Bolivar where there was a light show on the occasion of Christmas.

Hermano que lugar tan hermoso, es todo un paraíso y un arte la forma en la cual las cascadas descienden en conjunto con las plantas y lo verde del lugar.
