Malaysia is not only famous for it's lush green rainforests and biodiversities. There are numerous turtle hatcheries, world class diving sites and picture perfect white sandy beaches with turquoise hued crystal clear seawater. We are blessed with many beautiful islands.
Especially for those born with silver spoons, everyday felt like living in paradise. Joking! Enjoying life has little to do with money but more to do with mindset. This particular island known as the Lang Tengah (Middle Eagle) was made famous after the released of a Chinese movie known as Love You You starring Angelababy and Eddie Peng back in 2011.
In the past, I disliked going to beaches as well as participating in water sports. Applying sunscreen felt greasy on my skin, uncomfortable and a hassle. Unfortunately, I sunburned easily under intense sunlight. These days I'm so glad that there are more environmentally friendly mineral sunscreens in the market to minimize harmful effects on precious coral reefs.
It's best to carry along fish feed meant for marine fishes. One won't be able to resist feeding them. There are many varieties of marine sea life hanging around shallow ends such as parrot fish, clown fish and baby sharks. Just dipping your feet into the water while sitting on the wooden pier will attract schools of fishes. Bread contains yeast which will cause constipation and subsequently lead to premature death. Thoughtfulness requires plenty of awareness, research and conscious efforts.
How to get there???
Take a flight from KLIA or LCCT to Kuala Terengganu airport. A taxi ride from Kuala Terengganu to Tanjung Merang Jetty will take around 45 minutes. Finally, speed boat ride to Lang Tengah Island will require another 40 minutes. There are four resorts to select for accommodation. For those on a budget, I've seen visitors pitching a tent nearby secluded foresty area.
It is totally a possibility to do island hopping here as there are several other equally stunning islands nearby this area such as Redang Island, Perhentian Big Island, Perhentian Small Island and Kapas Island. The fresh invigorating sea breeze is extremely uplifting to the soul. When not pursuing water sports, a quiet meditation, relaxing spa session, beach yoga or simply basking in the sweetness of lazing around is fine with me. I'm very adept at learning the art of living well 🤣
Other than beach bumming for leisurely purposes, I really need to spend more time on protecting the environment to slow down the damages done by destructive fellow human-beings including myself. Human civilization started several thousand of years ago yet the most significant damages only occurred within the past 80 years. It'll be such a shame if others or future generation won't be able experience similar pleasure as I did. It's ironic that in order to co-exist better in this world, the devastating and also the great reset COVID-19 forces all of us to re-evaluate our previously unsustainable lifestyle choices. All of us need to learn to be less selfish before it's too late.
