Hi, there — it's me, Jo! Do you have plans for the summer? Well, it's not too late to spend a vacation and make the most of the summer heat and beach waves!
I've mentioned here that my mother's hometown is Camotes Island. I've been going back and forth in the island but I haven't visited many of its scenic tourist spots due to transportation and the limited amount of time. But this, time, after taking a dip at the beach (which I will be featuring in another blog soon), we finally headed to Timubo Cave!
Camotes Island offers many tourist destinations that you'll surely enjoy. As a native of the island, my cousin took us to Timubo Cave, located at Sonog, San Francisco. It was my first time taking a dip inside a cave and it was truly worth it.
Timubo Cave is located on a farm. There is a designated parking space where you don't have to pay to park your vehicles. When you arrive, you can see some stalls selling a variety of snacks and remembrances so you don't have to worry if you're hungry after the swim. Before you enter the cave, you have to pay an entrance, 70.00 for adults and 30. 00 for 10 years old and below.
Here is the entrance of the cave! At first, I was baffled because the entryway seemed too dark and you have to go down at least 10 feet below to reach the part where you can take a dip. Don't worry, there is a railing that you can hold while going down because you have to be careful since it's quite slippery. There is also enough lighting to guide your steps. And voila! This is the lowest point and what will greet you is the clear and cool waters of the cave.
A grotto on the side can be seen once you reach the bottom. There is a space where you can put your things on the other side while you are enjoying your swim.
And without any further delay, we finally submerged ourselves in the waters. It was really clear and cold. However, you have to be extra careful with the rock formations because it's sharp. There are parts of the cave where the water level is okay for my height, but on the center part, it's tricky since it looks shallow but actually really deep.
The experience was really great especially since you're literally underground and there's no sun to cause extreme heat and burnt skin. If you're looking for a refreshing place amidst the summer heat, Timubo Cave is the perfect place for you!
How to get there?
If you're somewhere around Cebu, you can head off to Danao City Port and ride a ship going to San Francisco, Camotes Island. The transportation fee for adults is 300.00 and for students like me, you can avail the discount so you you'll only pay 242.00. You also have a choice whether to avail the aircon seat or economy. The travel time usually takes around 2 to 3 hours so you can take time to unwind and appreciate the sea!

It is, at first I was hesitant to go in because the space is really limited but it is also a beautiful wonder of nature. So glad I went in💞
