While having a drink with my friends I scrolled through my Facebook pages in the late evening, my boyfriend and I were making plans to visit the Municipality of Mabinay. I viewed a photo at random of spring and overheard my friend saying, "The place is beautiful." Since every one of my high school friends had already visited, hearing their accounts made me even more eager to visit. The next morning the travel starts.
Along with the numerous caves in Poblacion, Mabinay Spring Resort is a well-liked tourist destination. The best time to come is during the summer. It is 87 kilometers from Dumaguete and takes two hours and ten minutes to travel there by motorcycle, vehicle, or bus. If you want to take a bus, go to the Dumaguete Ceres bus terminal and board a bus going to Mabinay. Tell the conductor where you're going, and he will let you know when you arrive.
Entrance fee differs to what Municipality you came from, the locals from Mabinay are free and we only paid 35 pesos each for the entrance and 50 pesos for the table and chairs. It was in the midst of pandemic so their canteen is close but you can bring your own foods with no corkage fee, they also have cottages and rooms available if you decide to have an overnight stay. We got there by motorcycle and it was a long drive with butt aches but all worth it travel. The spring is a remote natural body of water encircled by soaring trees, aside from its reasonable rates. By arriving I quickly get my phone to take a picture of the majestic place, the ambiance is very beautiful and I am amaze how beautiful the scene is. The place had changed from the photos I’ve seen way back 2010 it has several tiers of spring that flows down to another tier before but the water get shallower during summer. I roam around took pictures so that I could enjoy it after.
First dip on the water is shocking cold yet refreshing, I highly recommend Mabinay Spring Resort because it is a best place to gather and spend quality time with your loved ones, but be careful if you’re bringing your children as the water is deep and the current is slightly strong despite the presence of lifeguards we still need to have a safety precautions. There are available life jackets for rent and kayaking for only 50 pesos. Yes, you read it right! Very budget friendly and you got to enjoy the freshness of the air and the cool vibes of the place.
Looking for a place to have a talk to nature? Try visiting Mabinay and you will never regret it. The bluish water is like a gem that is well maintained by the workers riding kayaks and bringing some of their leaf skimmer to keep the water clean. I can feel the peacefulness and the calmness of the water as I had float in the water to be as one.
The experience had my mind and my body relaxed, looking forward for another unplanned trips. See yah!🙂😉

Yes the place is attractive, the water is great and relaxing but it's a bit scary when swimming far especially when the water gets darker blue, I had my imaginations hahaha. The place is pretty though, its a must visit.👍
