Tengo toda mi vida viviendo en la ciudad de Maracay, estado Aragua, y esta es la primera vez que vivo una gran experiencia en la Maestranza César Girón, gracias al amigo Elpidio Fuentes, quien fue mi guía e historiador y me relató sus experiencias en este sitio histórico de mi estado, jamás pensaba que me iba a nutrir de tanta información, pues solo bajé a tomar unas fotografías y hablar un poco de la construcción de este emblemático lugar.La plaza de toros vi que la están remodelando desde hace algún tiempo; antes estaba de color rosado, otros años atrás de amarillo tostado, pero esta vez es un amarillo intenso como los Araguaney y me encanta que se logre ver tan viva nuestra hermosa maestranza. Su construcción fue realizada por el arquitecto venezolano Carlos Raúl Villanueva, inspirada en la Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla, inaugurada el 20 de enero de 1933 bajo el mando del general Juan Vicente Gómez; estos datos fueron suministrados por nuestro amigo Elpidio.

El nombre de esta plaza de toros se debe al Torero famoso César Girón originario de Maracay, el cual tenía tres hermanos más los mismos también toreros, César murió muy joven en un accidente en la autopista regional el centro, solo hoy en día queda vivo uno de sus hermanos, tres de ellos representaron a Venezuela en España, y cuenta el sr Elpidio que una vez César venció al toro en España y le correspondía las dos orejas del toro, la cola y las dos patas del toro sin embargo las patas no se la quisieron dar pues era Venezolano en cambio a un español que estaba en esa misma corrida si se las dieron.
Frente a la plaza de toros hay una escultura de César Girón toreando un toro, esa es cultura es completamente de bronce y para mí sorpresa y algo que no sabía que ese toro tenía nombre, se llamaba presumido, un nombre muy bonito para un toro, el sr Elpidio llegó a la plaza de toros a la edad de 14 años con la ilusión de ser torero, sin embargo no pudo cumplir su sueño ya que una vaca terminó sacando uno de sus ojos, cosa que el cuenta con mucho carisma ya que cuenta que un torero español perdió un ojo en una corrida y eso no lo detuvo, sigui toreando y fue multimillonario, hoy en día el sr Elpido tiene más de 70 años.

Entre los toreros famosos que han pasado por esta hermosa Plaza de Toros están los hermanos Girón, Luis Miguel Dominguin, pepegallatdo, Manolito Bienvenida (quien inauguró la plaza), Diego Puerta, César Rincón, Morenito de Maracay, estos dos últimos fue el más lleno de la plaza que el sr Elpidio haya visto, ya que las entradas se agotaron en menos de lo pensado, la capacidad de la plaza es de 7mil personas y el dice que ese día entraron un poco más de 8mil, sentados todos bien apretados.
Pudimos entrar hasta el medio de la Maestranza, donde pudimos ver los palcos y como está quedando hermosa está plaza, los arcos que le dan ese estilo colonial y que la hacen parecerse a la de Sevilla se conservan muy bien, en la parte de arriba pusieron vidrios y es donde se sentarán las personas y toreros importantes para su inauguración la cual tienen pensada podría ser en julio de este año.
Al estar en el centro de la plaza se puede sentir y sentirse la energía y los gritos que en ella se han vivido, el sr Elpido me mostró como el eco de la plaza se hace sentir, y nos comentó que en las noches y madrugadas se pueden escuchar algunas cosas en la plaza, que ha visto apariciones y hasta le han ofrecido desenterrar un tesoro, el lo cuenta en forma de chiste porque dice que el no le tiene miedo a eso, pero no se arriesgo a desenterrar nada ya que dice que quien desentierra eso termina muerto.
Por último nos mostró una frase en árabe que dice en la entrada de atrás por sonde estran los toros y los toreros la cual dice "La Lucha entre la bestia y el hombre al final quien gana es Alah".

He tells it as a joke because he says he is not afraid of that, but he did not risk unearthing anything because he says that whoever unearths it ends up dead.
Finally, he showed us a phrase in Arabic at the back entrance where the bulls and bullfighters are, which says, "In the struggle between the beast and man, in the end, Allah wins."

I didn't know the architect was the same as the University City in Caracas! Are there any other stylistic details Villanueva took from Seville or added his own?
Carlos Raul Villanueva was the architect behind many of the country's iconic buildings at that time.
I know he was inspired by Seville, but I also notice that there are things about this building that Seville does not have, so perhaps the architect also incorporated some of his own artistic vision.
