Tres películas que te inspiraron.png

Recientemente publiqué mi primera participación en el #bloggingchallenge, en ella toqué el tema de la mejor inversión de mi vida. La dinámica me encantó, así que comencé a buscar con más detalle sobre esto, y me decidí por continuar con esta: Tres películas que te inspiran. No participo con ningún orden en específico, supongo que por ahora empezaré con los temas que más me atraigan sobre la marcha. Espero les guste.

Crecí viendo mucha TV, de verdad mucha, principalmente en mi infancia. Aunque la mayoría de mi tiempo lo gastaba en canales de música y Discovery Channel; paulatinamente desarrollé una afición por las películas, digo, a cualquiera le gustan las películas, pero mi gusto iba dirigido más al aspecto crítico de la historia que a cualquier otra cosa. Siempre he amado contar historias y, por ende, cuando veo una película –o serie, o cuando leo un libro– busco precisamente eso, que me cuenten algo que tenga sentido y que valga la pena contar.

Existen cientos de películas de diferentes géneros con tramas muy interesantes, sin embargo de pocas he sacado algo que sirva para aplicar en la vida real, y con ese algo me refiero a una enseñanza, algo que verdaderamente me inspire. Entonces, estas son las tres películas que más me han inspirado; no está de más aclarar que ninguna tiene un orden específico como un ranking ni nada por el estilo.

Cuestión de tiempo (2013)

La vi por primera vez ya en mi adultez, hace dos o tres años. La trama es bastante simple, por ello estuve a punto de cambiar de canal porque parecía una película fofa cuasi cómica de amor adolescente, algo más propio de los gustos de una quinceañera enamorada que de los míos, pero me equivoqué rotundamente.

Es, fácilmente, una de las mejores 10 producciones que he visto en mi vida. Su historia se enfoca en un chico cuyo padre le confiesa que los hombres de su familia tienen el poder de viajar en el tiempo (romanticismo y viajes en el tiempo, una combinación rara), este muchacho, tímido y torpe con creces, pretende usar ese poder para conseguir una novia. Sí, suena tonto, pero solo porque no quiero contar spoilers. Realmente Cuestión de tiempo es mucho más que una historia de amor común; al verla crecemos junto al protagonista, lo vemos formar una familia y ver cómo, aún para alguien capaz de controlar el mismo tiempo, estas cuestiones pueden volverse vanas para vivir la vida. Si pudiera describirla de alguna forma diría que es eso, una lección de vida.

El mundo mágico de Terabithia (2007)

Esta alguna vez fue un poco traumática para mí. Al igual que con Cuestión de Tiempo me pareció una película simplona cuando comencé a verla, y sí es sosa por intervalos, aunque, viéndola ahora me doy cuenta de que tiene una carga de mensajes relacionados hacia la amistad y compañerismo más profundos de lo que se aprecia a simple vista.

No obstante, da un giro total, una vuelta de 360 grados, hacia el tramo final, cambiando todo el "colorido" que mostró hasta entonces por un giro argumental oscuro e impactante. Aunque termina por retomar la trama infantil/preadolescente que llevó desde el inicio resulta imposible verla de la misma forma por el turbio destino que cubrió a uno de los personajes. Cabe mencionar que tenía 12 años la primera vez que vi esta película.

El gran pez (2003)

Qué puedo decir de esta; sé que al inicio del post comenté que no haría un ranking, pero es que tengo que mencionar que El Gran Pez es, por lejos, mi película favorita y próximamente le dedicaré una reseña. Más que una enseñanza, esta obra maestra, basada en la novela de Daniel Wallace, Un pez gordo: Una novela de dimensiones míticas, es una vida repleta de enseñanzas; y de eso va toda la película: la historia de lo que es la vida, de vivir la vida, la historia de una vida vista a través de los cuentos y relatos de los protagonistas, un padre y su hijo.

El Gran Pez está lleno de referencias, un apartado visual excepcional, un ambiente único creado con acompañamiento de la música ideal en cada escena; y, como lo mencioné antes, lo más imporante es que tiene una historia única, digna de ver una y otra vez.

I recently posted my first #bloggingchallenge entry, in which I touched on the topic of the best investment of my life. I loved the dynamic, so I started looking into this in more detail, and decided to follow up with this one: Three films that inspires you. I'm not participating in any specific order, I guess for now I'll start with the themes that appeal to me the most as I go along. I hope you like it.

I grew up watching a lot of TV, really a lot, mainly in my childhood. Although most of my time was spent on music channels and Discovery Channel; I gradually developed a fondness for movies, I mean, anyone likes movies, but my taste was more for the critical aspect of the story than anything else. I've always loved storytelling, and so when I watch a film - or a series, or when I read a book - I look for just that, to be told something that makes sense and is worth telling.

There are hundreds of films of different genres with very interesting plots, but few of them have given me something to apply in real life, and by that something I mean a lesson, something that truly inspires me. So, these are the three films that have inspired me the most; it goes without saying that none of them have a specific order as a ranking or anything like that.

About time (2013)

I saw it for the first time as an adult, two or three years ago. The plot is quite simple, so I was about to change the channel because it seemed like a flabby, quasi-comic teenage love movie, something more suited to the tastes of a fifteen year old girl in love than mine, but I was absolutely wrong.

It is easily one of the 10 best productions I have ever seen. Its story focuses on a boy whose father confesses to him that the men in his family have the power of time travel (romance and time travel, a weird combination), this boy, shy and awkward by far, intends to use that power to get a girlfriend. Yes, it sounds silly, but only because I don't want to count spoilers. Really A Matter of Time is much more than an ordinary love story; in watching it we grow up alongside the protagonist, see him raise a family and see how, even for someone capable of controlling time itself, these issues can become futile in living life. If I could describe it in any way I would say that it is just that, a life lesson.

Bridge to Terabithia (2007)

This one was once a bit traumatic for me. As with About Time it seemed like a simplistic film when I started watching it, and yes it is bland at intervals, although, watching it now, I realise that it has a deeper message about friendship and companionship than meets the eye.

However, it takes a complete turn, a 360-degree turn, towards the final stretch, changing all the "colour" it had shown until then for a dark and shocking plot twist. Although it ends up returning to the child/pre-teen plot that it carried from the beginning, it is impossible to see it in the same way because of the murky fate of one of the characters. It is worth mentioning that I was 12 years old the first time I saw this film.

Big fish (2003)

What can I say about this one; I know I said at the beginning of the post that I wouldn't do a ranking, but I have to mention that Big Fish is by far my favourite film and I will soon dedicate a review to it. More than a teaching, this masterpiece, based on Daniel Wallace's novel, A Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Dimensions, is a life full of teachings; and that's what the whole film is about: the story of what life is, of living life, the story of a life seen through the tales and stories of the main characters, a father and his son.

Big Fish is full of references, exceptional visuals, a unique atmosphere created with ideal music accompaniment in every scene; and, as I mentioned before, most importantly, it has a unique story, worthy of watching again and again.
