I must say that stereotypes depend on the culture of a community. I will discuss some stereotypes common in my immediate environment.

Being a king is limited to male while females can only be queens. In my culture, only males are allowed to be king while the female can't go beyond being a queen. This stands against egalitarianism which is our watchword.

People in some part of my community are believed to be fetish.
These people are then feared because they believe everyone from that neighborhood is fetish and not some out of the whole population. People from that community fail to say the truth about where they came from when asked due to the fact that they don't want to be run away from or should I say they also want to mix with people without fear of being harmed.

People from Lagos state in Nigeria are expected to be very smart than from anywhere else in the course. For this reason, people are careful in dealing with them because they believe they have an atom of fraud/deceit in them.

Even in my community, females cannot become a king, if the king doesn't bare a son, the son to the king's brother rules. I have also heard of the other mentioned belief, my younger brother had gist me so much about the life in lagos

These stereotypes you have mentioned are wrong. Even more so, the one of Lagosians. I have never been in support of any kind of labeling, whether gender or cultural. But then what can we do to lessen this kind of attitude in our society? Hopefully, people will become more enlightened and learn to understand people rather than generalize them. Thank you. 🙂
