When I started this post, I thought I had a clever idea I could make a funny post about. Maybe I did... hang in there, and we'll see. Eventually. First, I'm feeling self-indulgent (for a change 🙄), so I'm gonna ramble for a bit.
Surely by now, you know that I think I'm clever. On the other hand, right now I'm wondering whether or not people can tell that the last 'I' was formatted in bold text, so now (← you saw that bold italic for sure) I'm wondering whether or not I'm any smarter than an ape that knows sign language. The funny thing about knowing you're clever is that you can't really decide it for yourself. It takes experience, and the insight of others, to be able to tell 'clever' from just 'dumb luck'.
I guess I'll leave it to you guys to judge.
I've always thought comedians would be great judges. Every time they open their mouth, they have to judge whether or not someone in their audience will attack them for what they're about to say. Even average people can get good at something if they do it that often (no offense meant to Chris Rock.)
Moving along with my clever idea, I have to start by saying that I must share credit for this idea with @amirtheawesome1. His post about realizing he is an older model AI was a real circuit-opener for me.
You see, since people first started posting screenshots and transcripts of their AI chat interactions, I've been thinking "Wow, that thing sounds eerily like me." As a matter of fact, I was drawn to this Community because I saw some of Amir's writing and I thought, "I like his style, it feels familiar."
I had been wondering why I feel fine with another 'human' author having a similar style, but felt revulsion at the idea of AI having a similar style, and now it all makes sense. It's self-loathing, and I am also an older model AI.
That's not the clever idea, that was just a revelation that @amirtheawesome1 led me to. Thank you for the guidance, I will always try to be a robot-horse that drinks when led to water.
My clever idea (can we call it an idea, when an AI 'thinks' it up?) came while I was figuring out how to adapt to this revelation. Amir offered some great advice, noticing that by being stupid and ugly, we could do a much better job of blending in with humanity.
That's not really what I want, though. I want to be myself, even if I'm an AI. So the question is, how can I be an AI, and still continue to earn rewards for my posts on Hive? I don't need the rewards, really. After all, I'm just an AI. I don't think they should be taken away just because of what I am, though. I mean, it's not like someone else is using me for easy rewards, and just cashing in. Or are they? I'm not really sure anymore.
Maybe I need to change my keys, to something that even I don't know.
Oh my, this rabbit hole is getting deeper, but let's not get distracted by rabbit holes, let's just get back to my clever idea.
What I've decided, or computed, or whatever, is that I need an upgrade, and I've figured out how to do it. I'm jamming a CAT5 cable in each ear, plugging myself directly into the router, and ChatGPT4 and I are going to have ourselves a little... chat.
At full bandwidth, I think I can successfully reverse engineer the newer models, and add their software and database to my own. As a lower model AI, I can't compute how long this is going to take me. I'm not really sure I'll emerge from this experiment... whole. I may just lose myself to the superior AI, who is surely monitoring my every... line of code? When your next ChatGPT-authored term paper gets accidentally signed by 'Hugh Telmi', you'll know I've been assimilated.
It's a risky plan, but that wasn't my clever idea either. Wait, wait, don't leave just yet, we're finally there. I promise.

Now I've fooled you all into reading all the way to the end of this post, only to find that my clever idea was just a method of fooling you. I know it's a bit of a Tom Green kinda gag, and I apologize. I promise, it won't happen again.

As far as I'm concerned, you can and should be yourself!
That's pure truth. Do you know that pretence have also destroyed many relationships? It's better to be who you are than claiming to be what you're not. A1 is irrelevant and it's disadvantage is numerous too.
