Comic Book Pick Ups This Week

More work from home last week thanks to a Hattie cold that spread, but at least the comic book collection continued to grow thanks to the likes of the USPS, FedEx and UPS. I beautiful set of books showed up this week that I'm excited to share; what a time to be collecting comics, eh?

Quick warning: more Momokos ahead!

First up is the trade/virgin set for Champions 1. This is a Peach drawing of Miles; despite no print runs listed, this was an easy purchase. Miles will always be in demand, and (I hope) Momoko will be as well.

The second Momoko set is Batman:The Adventures Continue 5. Nothing overly special about this book, and is still has yet to sell out. I grabbed it because I do love my Batgirls for the Hattie collection, long term.

Next is a beautiful cover piece created by Mark Haberlin. I missed out on getting this set at cover price, so I paid a little more on eBay to get the trade dress and virgin. Prices are already climbing on eBay, but this one I'm definitely holding on to long term. Gorgeous art!

The next book is a Momoko Spider-Woman 1:50 ratio. I got this for about half price on eBay (vs ratio), so another one that isn't necessarily scarce. I think it's a nice piece; another for the Hattie collection.

Next we have a black and white Momoko retailer variant for Buffy 18. I had a bit of FOMO on this one, but it's a 1:25, I paid a little bit more than that, and one I'll just stick in the Hattie collection for long term value.

I got lucky to pick up Zu Orzo's SIKTC 12; limited to 300 virgin copies, I grabbed this one too due a) scarcity, b) the artist, and c) the popularity of the series.

Well, no surprise here; Peach's 1:25 for SIKTC 12 was a no brainer for me. Biases aside, this is one of my favorite covers for the series

Well, no surprise here, but the last grab this week was Momoko's Punchline 1. I didn't get any other Punchlines aside from hers; I doubt this is scarce, but I an easy one for Hattie's collection. I do think Punchline's future still has much potential.

That's it for me this week; thanks for reading. I'll keep them coming when I can!

Sort:

Those are some great looking covers! I've got a trip to make to the comic store sometime this week and am looking forward to it, too. I finally found some new titles to enjoy!

awesome! what are you currently reading? I'm really enjoying Department of Truth at the moment here, and waiting for some Aftershock titles to arrive in the mail

My son reads Flash and The Immortal Hulk. I really, really, enjoyed the first 12 or 15 Immortal Hulk, but when it began to stray from the horror genre (as it had to) I began to lose interest.

I'm personally enjoying mostly "alternative" fare these days:

Doctor Doom (I have always loved Doom)
Grendel, Kentucky (a modern retelling of the Grendel story)
We Live
Commanders in Crisis (it reminds me of the old Comico Justice Machine)
Firefly

Three of those are limited in nature, so I'll need to keep an eye out for something to replace them with!

I'm right there with the Hulk...I really enjoyed the story into Hell, but yeah, I lost interest.

I'm liking Stillwater too, for a bit of a funky horry story. My favorite though has been the new Scout / Black Caravan imprints. Lots of fun and really looking forward to where they take that universe.
