It's impossible to stop spring

It was a wonderful day. And it was a terrible day.
Today is the 20th day of the war in Ukraine.

It was the 18th on Sunday. In the morning, the enemy attacked the Yavoriv Peacekeeping Center, 30 km from my native Lviv. The rocket fire killed 35 people and injured more than 130. When I finished my work in the church, I had a meeting with a friend. Honestly, after reading the news, I did not want to go anywhere, walk, talk or take photos.

However, I went for a walk. Spring finally overcame winter, the sun was shining brightly and the sky was so beautiful and blue. Can there be shots, smoke, fires, fear and crying somewhere far away? Unfortunately yes. But nature takes its course. This planet, before it is destroyed by man, lives by its eternal laws. Snowdrops and crocuses are growing from under the ground, birds return to their native land, even if there is a war and maybe their home is gone.

My friend and I decided to go to the High Castle. We started the journey from the ancient monastery on Vicheva Street. This Renaissance pearl is further away from famous places and tourists rarely come here. Then we went to the interesting Pisha (ie Pedestrian) street, so it is really narrow and steep, although it does not scare some drivers. "Surprisingly, I've never been here", I thought. This street finally led us to the Alley of the Heavenly Hundred (these are the people who died in the Revolution of Dignity in 2014). God, 8 years have passed... Now there are thousands of them who died in the war for Ukraine.

The ascent to the High Castle was forbidden and tied with ribbons. Let me remind you that this is a park located on a hill (there used to be a castle here, but only a fragment of the wall and the name of the territory remain). The park also has a TV tower and an observation deck with the Ukrainian flag. It is logical that in wartime this place at the top is closed. We climbed the neighboring Bald Mountain, seeing a few daredevils on it. Sandy soil, green pines and very bright sun created reminiscent of summer and travel.
From the top of the hill you can see the northern part of the city.
Than my cousin called and asked me to go abroad with her and her daughter, because she was scared of recent events.

And I clearly understand that I am staying here. I can't go and leave my country. I didn't have a position on all this before... A lot of friends emigrated, I mean long ago, long before the war. Maybe they are right, maybe I'm just afraid to get out of the comfort zone and move to other more developed country? I thought so.

And now I clearly understand that I will be here. I began to appreciate my land.

Later we visited the Home of Rescued Animals. We greeted foxes, wolves, rabbits, birds of prey and storks. It is a place for injured wild animals, but since the war there is also a kind of point for keeping pets that have been abandoned or lost. If their owners are not found through social networks, volunteers take the animals to Poland or look for a new home here.
And in this place they gather food for humanitarian aid to the shelters of Kyiv and Kharkiv, which are in the war zone. Even on Sunday it is noisy here, young people are sorting food packages. And there are "bags" (I don't know correct word:))) on the bus, from which you can hear meowing. Good luck to you, hairy friends!

Our walk was coming to an end. I thought it's the saddest spring of my life. And not only in mine. But I feel unity with those Ukrainians who are now defending the independence of our state. I feel proud.
Thanks for your visit and support 💕💕
