Apocalypse in Mariupol (UA/EN)

Everyone knows the difficult situation in Mariupol. The city is destroyed, it is a humanitarian, ecological catastrophe, to stay there for anyone is dangerous for health and life. Nevertheless, there are still more than 120,000 people in Mariupol. People did not leave Mariupol for various reasons: they do not want to leave their home, they have sick relatives, the sick, they have nowhere to go, and so on.

But living in the conditions that are now in Mariupol is simply dangerous. There has been no water in the city for a long time, people are trying to get technical water in order to eat it. Women wash things in puddles. The Russian occupiers bring water by car as "aid", but this is not enough for the number of people who remained here.

The situation with food is just as difficult: a "humanitarian" from Rashka brings some food for those who have signed up and will stand in a huge queue. Also, Rashka plans to give food only to retirees, and other people - for money in stores. How all this should happen is unknown.

People are offered to go to occupied Donetsk for treatment. There are almost no doctors left in Mariupol. The situation with medicines is catastrophic.

There is a lot of garbage on the streets. In three months, it turned into rot, clogging the "showers". Because of this, even a small rain turns the street into a river, which, mixed with water from the sewer that does not work, carries garbage, rot and corpse poison throughout the city. The city is getting hotter every day, and the threat of epidemics is becoming more real.

Education in Mariupol is impossible. But the Russian occupiers made adjustments here as well: for those schools and kindergartens that could be launched, they instructed children to sing the anthem of Russia and the DNR, LNR, and record it on video so that Russia could disseminate such information about schools. And if teachers refuse, they can be arrested or excluded from humanitarian aid lists. Teachers became hostages.

The Liberators plan to open 9 schools in Mariupol, although by February 24 there were more than 60 public schools that provided secondary education in the city. , only 53 teachers were found and persuaded to work. That is, 6 teachers per school - a vivid illustration of Russian education in Mariupol during the Russian occupation.

The main thing is to bring textbooks from Russia, and it is still unknown who will teach them. Some teachers from Donetsk complain on social media that they are practically forced to go to work in schools in Mariupol. But, of course, there are no people willing to break into a city where there is no gas, water, light and communication.

After February 24, the population of Mariupol decreased fivefold: about 200,000 citizens left for the controlled territory of Ukraine; about 50-70 thousand are in the villages of Azov or in the occupied territories of eastern and southern Ukraine; about 47,000 were deported or forced to leave for Russia and Belarus; more than 22,000 were killed by the Russian military, and about 100,000 to 120,000 Mariupol residents are still in the destroyed city without basic living conditions.
