Mirror Stream is one of the attractive tourist spots in Kharkiv city. Many people especially native people go there to enjoy their time even people from other cities come here to explore and spend some time here. The local name of this place is "(Зеркальная струя) Zerkalʹnaya Struya" located the opposite of Kharkiv Opera house. This is basically a natural fountain that discovered first in 1947. We call it Mirror Stream because it's easy to pronounce and often avoids the original name of this location. Also, a church is located there called Khram Svyatykh Zhon-Myronosyts, one of the beautiful churches in Kharkiv.
The structure also built-in 1947 in the honor of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. From far away during the night, the monument looks so beautiful no matter which season you are in. During winter, soft snow covers all the pavement and plaza areas and creates a white winter wonderland scenario. On the other hand, spring and fall will push you to sit down there and enjoy the beauty of this place. There is a beautiful nice park located adjacent to the structure. After so many renovation and reconstruction, The Mirror Stream now look like this.
The Mirror stream is now one of the protected sites of Kharkiv from UNESCO. The fountain itself is one of the stunning architectural construction and represent the pride of the city. The architect of this fountain is Korzh and this is not a unique fountain, it is basically a copy of Kislovodsk (“Altanka”). You can read more about here.
I have been to this place many times because this is located beside Smuskaya street and the location is very prominent. So, if I go to the city center, this place is must visit me. I have seen the reconstruction as well, last year they have renovated the fountain and gave it a nice, decent organic shape. I have experienced the changes of this place from season to season and felt the beauty and the difference of each time.
The night view is worthy to explore, you can see both church and opera house at the same time. Also, the various colors of lights create a dramatic scenery in this place.
After winter the fountain becomes alive and the whole area context changes. So many flowers and trees create a stunning view of the city and attract many people to sit down there for a while.
I took some pictures to hold the memory of the winter scenario. Maybe soon I will go there to explore spring and summer beauty.
