Старшому поколінню, якому всю активну частину життя довелося прожити в радянському союзі, як нікому відомо про неповагу москви до української мови. Політика правлячих комуністів робила все для знищення української мови. І, що найогидніше, - у містах населення таки переходило на російську. Мені було дико приходити в гості до студентської подруги у Києві. Тому що і вона, і її сестра спілкувалися російською. А вдома їхні батьки між собою - українською! Але до своїх дочок завжди зверталися тільки російською. Мені це не налазило на голову... але з часом змирилась. Адже майже кожна столична сім'я поступала з мовою саме так.
The older generation, which had to live the entire active part of their lives in the Soviet Union, knows no one about Moscow's disrespect for the Ukrainian language. The policy of the ruling communists did everything to destroy the Ukrainian language. And, what is most disgusting - in the cities, the population still switched to Russian. It was wild for me to visit my student friend in Kyiv. Because both she and her sister spoke Russian. And at home, their parents speak Ukrainian to each other! But they always addressed their daughters only in Russian. It didn't cross my mind... but over time I came to terms with it. After all, almost every family in the capital dealt with the language in exactly this way.
Розмовляти українською в місті вважалося ознакою відсталості, таких людей одразу ж обзивали селюками, висміювали за їх мову будь-де. Я ніколи не забуду, як хотілося вдарити по лицю продавчиню універмагу, що висміяла намагання моєї мами вимовити якесь слово російською. Готова була вбити цю тварюку за неповагу до старшої жінки, за образу честі моєї мами. Адже вона якраз все життя і сама розмовляла, і дітей вчила говорити рідною, українською.
Якщо заглибитись в історію, то можна дізнатися жахливі факти лінгвоциду української мови, що влаштовувалися росією протягом усього ХХ та ХХІ століть. Навіть зараз, напавши на нашу землю війною, російські нелюди цілеспрямовано нищать українську мову та культуру у всіх сферах життя. Спалюючи книги та знищуючи бібліотеки, дискримінуючи та репресуючи україномовне населення, погрожуючи та залякуючи людей тільки за мову, окупанти порушують і міжнародне право, і закони України. Зафіксовані понад 100 фактів таких порушень будуть розслідувані та представлені суду. Злочинці мають бути покарані, щоб наступним поколінням росіян навіть в голову не прийшло творити лінгвоцид.

I was ready to kill this creature for disrespecting an older woman, for insulting my mother's honor. After all, she had been speaking herself all her life, and taught her children to speak their native Ukrainian.
