Ahoy! The latest event in Pokémon GO has started yesterday. This event takes us back in time, as we go for a Hisuian Discoveries event. It started yesterday, July 27th and will remain active until Tuesday August 2nd at 8 pm local time.
The Hisui region is basically what is now known as the Sinnoh region, but back in the days it was apparently called Hisui. This region is featured in Pokémon Legends: Arceus for Nintendo Switch. In this region there are some Hisuian forms of Pokémon that we already know. These Hisuian forms are versions of those Pokémon from the past. Maybe they still exist in the world but are really rare, at least the versions we know have come from those Hisuian forms. Some Hisuian forms can evolve too.
Prior to this event we already had Hisuian Voltorb make its debut in Pokémon GO around the time that Pokémon Legends: Arceus was released. With this event, some new Hisuian Pokémon will be making their debut in Pokémon GO.
First off is Hisuian Qwilfish, which is available in the wild. Here you can see one of the first ones I encountered and its stats.
Hisuian Growlithe and Hisuian Sneasel are also making their Pokémon GO debuts, but they are only available in the 7 km Eggs from Gifts. So from the Hisuian forms only Hisuian Voltorb and Hisuian Qwilfish will be appearing in the wild. There is a Collection Challenge where you have to catch quite some of these Pokémon. Here is a screenshot of it. This Collection Challenge rewards 7,000 XP, 3,000 Stardust and 1 Incubator.
So how to get Hisuian Growlithe and Hisuian Sneasel is only through 7 km Eggs. These Eggs are obtained by opening Gifts. You need space for an Egg before opening a Gift from a friend to receive one, but not every gift can have an Egg. This only applies to Eggs received from Gifts while the event is active. So any Eggs you get from Gifts before Tuesday August 2nd at 8 pm local time will contain Hisuian Pokémon.
Hisuian Voltorb, Hisuian Growlithe, Hisuian Qwilfish and Hisuian Sneasel are the only 4 Pokémon you can hatch from 7 km Eggs obtained during the event, and all with an equal chance. So it should be quite decent to get Hisuian Growlithe and Sneasel.
Hisuian Growlithe can evolve into Hisuian Arcanine.
Hisuian Qwilfish and Hisuian Sneasel also bring new evolutions to the game. To evolve them you will need to have them as your Buddy Pokémon and complete some tasks.
Event Field Research Tasks
- Catch 10 Pokémon: Paras ✨ OR Psyduck ✨ OR Magnemite ✨
- Use 5 Berries to help Catch Pokémon: Rowlett OR Cyndaquil ✨ OR Oshawott ✨
- Send 3 Gifts and add a Sticker to each: Clefairy ✨ OR Petilil ✨
- Send 5 Gifts and add a Sticker to each: Plant Cloak Burmy ✨ OR Sandy Cloak Burmy ✨ OR Trash Cloak Burmy ✨
- Battle in a Raid: Remoraid ✨ OR Mantine ✨
- Win a Raid: Shinx ✨
- Hatch an Egg: Sneasel ✨ (the regular Sneasel, not the Hisuian)
The reason the 5 Berries to help catch Pokémon has starters from different regions is because these are the 3 Starter Pokémon you can choose from in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
ULTRA UNLOCK
Thanks to the Global Ultra Unlock challenges completed last weekend during GO Fest Seattle, there are now some Ultra Unlock bonuses for this event as well.
First off, Panpour will be appearing globally! We got a Panpour from the Global GO Fest Seattle Collection Challenge last weekend, now we can also catch it in the wild! I will definitely catch as many as I can find, and trade with friends to get a Lucky Panpour. Panpour can now be Shiny since GO Fest Seattle last weekend.
Unown S will be appearing in Raids. I don't have this letter yet so I might use one of my free daily Raid Passes to do an Unown Raid during this event to have it in my Pokédex. This Unown S can also be Shiny.
Event bonuses:
- Double friendship increase from any interaction with friends.
- Open up to 45 Gifts per day and send up to 150 Gifts per day
- Store 30 Gifts in your bag
Hisuian Discoveries Raid Day
On Sunday, July 31st a Hisuian Raid Day will be taking place. From 11 am to 2 pm local time.
During this Raid Day, Hisuian Braviary will be making its Pokémon GO debut! Its debut will be made in Raids. Like previous Raid Days it will most likely be the case that all Gyms will be hosting a Hisuian Braviary Raid for 3 hours, so you can do 1 Raid per Gym.
Bonuses for Raid Day:
- up to 5 free Raid Passes from Gym Photo Discs during the event and up to two hours after the event.
- Increased chance for Rare Candy XL from in-person Raid Battles
- 50% more XP for winning Raid Battles
That's it for this event. I've still got quite a bit of regular Incubators so I'll be trying to hatch some 7 km Eggs for these Hisuian Pokémon. I'll just be using the Incubators I still have. Hopefully I can get Lucky Hisuian Qwilfish and Sneasel so I can work on getting their evolutions Lucky in the Pokédex.
