Der heutige Blick in meine Uhrensammlung trifft auf einen Uhrenhersteller, der sich durch einige sehr ungewöhnliche Uhrenmodelle hervorgetan hat.
Today's look at my watch collection encounters a watch manufacturer who has distinguished itself with some very unusual watch models.
Leider gibt es die Firma nicht mehr, soviel ich weis. Es war eine Amerikanische Firma, die in Asien produzieren ließ, mit Japanischen und zT. sogar Schweizer Uhrwerken. Die Designsbandbreite ist dabei von "normal" über "typisch Amerikanisch klotzig" bis hin zu "gewagt exotisch". Und das bei noch akzeptablen, der Qualität angemessenen Preisen.
Unfortunately the company no longer exists, as far as I know. It was an American company that had production in Asia, with Japanese and partly even Swiss calibers. The design range is from "normal" to "typically American bulky" to "daring exotic". And that at still acceptable prices commensurate with the quality.
Mit einem Modell der "gewagt exotisch" Gruppe haben wir es heute zu tun, nämlich der Android Divemaster Espionage AD 633
Today we are dealing with a model from the "daring exotic" group, namely the Android Divemaster Espionage AD 633
Nun wird der Eine oder die Andere vieleicht denken "Da fehlt doch was!"

Das ist das spezielle an dieser Uhr - es ist eine sg. Regulator Uhr, also eine Uhr mit nur einem großen Zeiger, hier für die Minuten. Denn da die AD 633 eine spezialisierte Taucheruhr ist, sind die Minuten die wichtigste Information.
Dennoch hat die Uhr auch eine Stunden und eine Sekunden Anzeige, nur sind die separat. Die Stunden sind im obigen kleinen Zifferblatt von 1 bis 12. Die Sekunden sind unten, mit dem roten Zeiger. Auf dem Foto ist es also 11:16 Uhr und 34 Sekunden.
That is the special thing about this watch - it is a so called Regulator clock, i.e. a clock with only one large hand, here for the minutes. Because the AD 633 is a dedicated divers watch, where the minutes are the most important information.
Nevertheless, the clock also has an hours and a seconds display, only they are separate. The hours are from 1 to 12 in the small dial above. The seconds are at the bottom dial, with the red hand. So on the photo its showing 11:16 hours and 34 seconds.
Die Uhr ist rundum absolut stabil und massiv gebaut, was in einem Gewicht von 250g resultiert. Nicht ganz klar ist mir, warum man diesen Armbandmix verwendet hat. Der Hauptteil besteht aus einem Milanese Band aus Stahl. Jedoch kann man Milanese Bänder nicht kürzen oder verlängern, deshalb wurden jeweils vor dem Verschluß noch Stücke als Segment Band ausgeführt. Bei diesen kann man einzelne Segmente herausnehmen bzw. einfügen, wie das allgemein üblich ist.
The watch is completely stable and solidly built, which results in a weight of 250g. It is not entirely clear to me why this bracelet mix was used. The main part consists of a Milanese band made of steel. However, Milanese straps cannot be shortened or lengthened, which is why pieces of segment strap were made before the closure. With these you can remove or insert individual segments, as it is common practice.
Auf dem geschraubten Deckel hinten kann man nochmal einige Eckdaten nachlesen. So das die ganze Uhr aus 316L Edelstahl besteht, das ein Seagull YT 2708 Regulator Automatik (Chinesisch aber hochwertig) Uhrwerk eingebaut ist, und das die Uhr wasserdicht bis 500m / 1650 ft sein soll. Das ist ein Überdruck von 50 bar! Wenn jemand so tief ohne U-Boot taucht, wird er wohl keine Uhr mehr brauchen.
On the screwed lid at the back you can read some key data again. So that the whole watch is made of 316L stainless steel, a Seagull YT 2708 regulator automatic (Chinese but high quality) movement is built in, and the watch should be water resistant up to 500m / 1650 ft. That is an pressure of 50 bar! If someone dives this deep without a submarine, he probably won't need a watch anymore.
Daher ist auch, wie bei Profi Taucheruhren üblich, ein Helium Ventil auf der einen Seite der Uhr angebracht. Ebenso hier zu erkennen, wie dick das ganze Ding ist.
Therefore, as is usual with professional diving watches, a helium valve is attached to one side of the watch. You can also see here how thick the whole thing is.
Auf der anderen Seite ist die sehr große Krone, die zwecks besserer Dichtigkeit verschraubt wird. Ein schönes kleines Extra ist das Android Logo im Emaille Look darauf.
On the other side is the very large crown, which is screwed down for better tightness. A nice little extra is the enameled Android logo on it.
Als Fazit kann ich sagen, das die Android Seamaster Espionage AD 633 sicher nicht die ideale Armbanduhr für den gewöhnlichen Alltag ist. Dafür ist sie zu schwer, und die Anzeige mit dem Einen Zeiger ist auch nicht grade praktisch.
Für Taucher und Wassersportler sieht das aber ganz anders aus. Die Wasserdichtigkeit reicht wirklich für alle Aktivitäten im Wasser, und hat dann immer noch reichlich Reserven.
Und als Hingucker taugt sie natürlich auch, und zum starten eines Gesprächs - "Wie, nur EIN Zeiger?" usw.
Als solches habe ich den Kauf für meine Sammlung nicht bedauert, zumal der Preis einigermaßen moderat war. 180 Euro oder sowas, als Auslaufmodell heruntergesetzt.
In conclusion, I can say that the Android Seamaster Espionage AD 633 is certainly not the ideal wristwatch for everyday life. It's too heavy for that, and the one-hand display isn't exactly practical either.
For divers and water sports enthusiasts, however, it looks very different. The water resistance is really sufficient for all activities in the water, and then still has plenty of reserves.
And of course it is also an eye-catcher, and good for starting a conversation - "What, just ONE hand?" etc.
As such, I haven't regretted buying it for my collection, especially since the price was moderate. 180 euros or something, reduced as a discontinued model.
