I recently clocked one year in the institution of marriage and since then I haven't really done any official change of some of my document with regards to my new status as required by law for my former documents to still be valid despite having a new name. The process was stressful but all thanks to hubby, because he helped shorten the process, I needed to change my surname to reflect the same with hubby.
To do that, first I went to the court to get an affidavit with regards to the change of my name after which I went to the newspaper to make it public in their publication. The newspaper took about four working days to have it published. I needed this two documents to change my bank details and higher institution documents.
I collected the newspaper and went to the bank to start the process only to meet the place so crowded, I almost felt like giving up but I said to myself if I leave I may not be able to this again in the nearest future because of the fact that I'm with a baby, it would be hard for me to do so alone since my mom, who accompanied me will be leaving in a few days time.

I was so fortunate when I heard that nursing mothers and pregnant women should come forward so that they can attend to them.
I moved forward and then presented my documents, after cross-checking my documents, the lady said I needed a valid identity card with my new name appearing.
Unfortunately for me I just recently enrolled for a voters ID and it's still in view. So I was told to go get another valid ID to continue with the process. I was so tired at that point because I was still carrying my baby, who's been sleeping almost at the moment we entered the bank. The cold just made him doze off 🥰. That made him more heavy though 😔.
After several attempts to get the voter's card uploaded with my picture failed, we left disappointed but will go back at other times because I really need this documentation for my national youth service corps program coming up anytime soon 😔

It's not easy shaa but I wish you well. Getting mine was pleasant too but las las I was able to change the name and all the documents required.
I didn't understand fully what it was like to experience motherhood until now. It's a mix of joy, anxieties, stress and happiness woven together.
