Mis hijas estudian en un colegio católico y por lo tanto, entre sus actividades diarias, no hay nada relacionado con este tema. Marcela principalmente, es la que nuestra interés en el tema ya que está en todos lados, la televisión, películas, publicidad, en el supermercado, y hasta sus primos están hablando de eso. Así que, porque no educarla sobre el tema en casa?

No sabía cómo explicar el tema pero mis hijas tampoco necesitan (en este momento) entender el significado y el origen del Halloween, solo creo conveniente que tengan idea de lo que sucede a su alrededor, cultura general. Así que empecé por explicar que hay un país que se llama Estados Unidos y que los niños que viven en ese país se disfrazan y salen a pedir caramelos con sus padres todos los 31 de octubre. También le expliqué que en Venezuela no es una celebración como allá, aquí solo hacemos dibujos sobre calabazas, brujitas bonitas, vampiros y otros como los de sus películas favoritas. Le dije que nada de eso debe darnos miedo porque nada es real, todo es parte de nuestra imaginación y que cuando sean más grandes podremos disfrutar de otras cosas que se hacen ese día.
I did not know how to explain the subject but my daughters do not need (at this moment) to understand the meaning and origin of Halloween, I just think it convenient that they have an idea of what happens around them, culture general. Marcela dejo de hacer preguntas y eso me hace pensar que no hace falta más.

Marcela stopped asking questions and that makes me think that no more is needed.
Por su parte, Miranda solo opinó que: "cuando sea grande quiero volar con una bruja en su escoba", y todas reímos y seguimos pegando papelitos. Además de hablarles sobre el tema, esta actividad me hizo darme cuenta lo fácil y divertido que puede ser educar a las niñas con respecto a un tema en particular. Nosotros los padres tenemos el poder en nuestras manos, resulta sencillo hablar de algo mientras creas, disfrutas, inventas, y sobre todo, compartes momentos especiales con tus hijos.
For her part, Miranda only thought that: "when I grow up I want to fly with a witch on her broom", and we all laughed and continued sticking little pieces of paper. In addition to talking to them about it, this activity made me realize how easy and fun it can be to educate girls on a particular topic. We parents have the power in our hands, it is easy to talk about something while you create, enjoy, invent, and above all, share special moments with your children.
Entonces con pocos materiales, sin presunciones, podemos lograr educar a nuestros pequeños y conectarnos con ellos. Es mejor decirlo nosotros y no que se los digan los demás, podemos tomar el control y responder las miles de preguntas que nuestros tesoros tienen para nosotros.
