Ella. Ya tiene 11 años. Su mundo es un arcoíris de colores infinitos, juguetes perfectamente alineados que cobran vida en sus manos, su imaginación es explosiva, sorprendente y muy vibrante, su mecanismo para dejarla ver son sus dibujos, sus vídeos, sus creaciones con pedacitos de papel, piedras, plásticos, metales, en fin cualquier cosa que le sirva para recrear su mundo de fantasía y color.
Yo. Nadie me lo dijo, en principio. Fue un descubrimiento, mi pequeña niña caminando de puntillas cual bailarina de valet, coleccionista de juguetes que nadie puede tocar, juguetes nada convencionales para su edad creo, un dominó, un ajedréz, rompecabezas, carritos, cartas españolas, siempre alineadas y cuidadosamente ordenadas.
El entorno. En este mundo del espectro autista, creo que lo mas difícil es lograr la empatía de quienes nos rodean, afortunadamente cada vez mas son las personas que se hacen conscientes de que ellos no son especiales ni diferentes, no están enfermos, ni son niños o personas malcriadas, se trata de entender un poquito su mundo, que por cierto, no funciona al revés, funciona según su necesidad.
La escuela. A veces fácil otras no tanto. En nuestro caso significó un recorrido por cuatro colegios diferentes. Su rendimiento escolar y su progreso desconcertaron a algunas maestras, expresiones como "Ella no es fácil, se niega a escribir , no quiere socializar, prefiere estar sola, no se integra a las rondas de juego," en fin era desconcertante escuchar todo aquello. Por otra parte, hace sus tareas a su modo, expone un tema como toda una experta, puede construir las tablas de multiplicar completas pero se niega a memorizarlas un día, otro sorprende recitándola y otro día en las pruebas hace todos los ejercicios bien pero, "si no se sabe la tabla"... Es impresionante que puede entablar conversaciones extensas de un tema de su interés y expresarse como una experta, "y ¿cuando leíste o donde aprendiste eso?..." la niña que parece distraída y como fuera de este mundo, presta atención y absorbe cual esponja todo lo encuentra a su alrededor. Simplemente, se resume en un proceso de aprendizaje diferente.
Ayuda Profesional. Sra. Representante, debe acudir al colegio a una reunión el día XX relacionada con su representada. Debe entrevistarse con la Licenciada Fulana.
Gracias Dios que existen los especialistas en el tema, la ayuda profesional juega un papel fundamental para entender como conducirnos y ser parte de este mundo del TEA.
El tema es muy amplio, la persona que tiene algún grado en el espectro Autista tiene su propio universo. Quienes tenemos el privilegio de convivir con ellos podemos decidir si queremos ser parte de ese universo o no, todo depende que tanto querramos aprender y formar parte de su mundo.
No soy experta en el tema, solo soy la mamá de una preciosa niña que ha recibido el amor y la comprensión de una familia empática; no la consideramos especial ni diferente, es simplemente Ella. Ella es genial.

On the other hand, she does her homework in her own way, she can do a subject like an expert, she can construct the complete multiplication tables but refuses to memorize them one day, another day she surprises by reciting it and another day in the tests she does all the exercises well but, "if she doesn't know the table"? It is impressive that she can engage in extensive conversations on a subject of her interest and express herself as an expert, "and when did you read or where did you learn that?..." the girl who seems distracted and as if out of this world, pays attention and absorbs like a sponge everything she finds around her. It simply boils down to a different learning process.

The subject is very broad, the person who has some degree of Autism Spectrum Disorder has his or her own universe. Those of us who have the privilege of living with them can decide if we want to be part of that universe or not, it all depends on how much we want to learn and be part of their world.
