Seen from another angle, in my daily life I have been able to meet many teachers, who have a great vocation, and put into practice many of their wonderful aptitudes, claiming to be willing to serve the noble cause of guiding young people to discover their own path and their own talents. Sólo deseo formular una ilusión que me persigue desde mis días de adolescente, esa etapa cálida y llena de inocencia que no debería contaminarse de dogmas ajenos. Hoy recuerdo claramente que, en el colegio, al terminar el ciclo básico, nos realizaron una prueba de la cual dependía el área que íbamos a estudiar durante los siguientes años en el ciclo diversificado, posteriormente, ese camino nos dirigiría hacia la carrera más acorde en la universidad, al menos eso es lo que se esperaba. El problema para mí vino cuando sentí que no encajaba con ningún perfil establecido (divergente), ¿Qué se debe hacer en ese caso? ¿Tengo que obligarme a estudiar algo para lo cual no tengo voluntad de prepararme? ¿O peor aún, debo seguir los parámetros establecidos sólo porque el sistema lo exige para encajar en algún perfil? En aquel momento me pregunté ¿Y si puedo crear algo nuevo que contribuya a evolucionar? El anterior me parece un triste episodio que me hace citar los pensamientos de la protagonista de la reciente serie de Merlina Addams, los cuales me llamaron mucho la atención:

Y creo que sin duda tiene mucha razón, a pesar de que difiero de algunos elementos de dicha serie, pero ese es otro tema. Lo que se debe profundizar aquí es a dónde conduce el trato que algunos docentes están teniendo con nuestros niños y adolescentes que van en pleno proceso de desarrollo de sus capacidades, al mismo que tiempo que transitan por la peligrosa etapa de la rebeldía que puede sacarlos de control y llegar a convertirse en sus propios enemigos.

En mi mente existe un mundo lleno de ilusiones, donde las escuelas de primaria se encargan de explorar a fondo las aptitudes de los niños desde muy pequeños, escalando los niveles, hasta identificar cuáles son sus verdaderas habilidades, propias de su personalidad y desenvolvimiento, sin intervención de opiniones de terceros, sólo los expertos profesionales, previamente preparados para tal fin. Luego, en la secundaria los enseñan a desarrollar esos talentos que han sido descubiertos, con el apoyo de los padres siempre. Si eso fuese posible, quizás con los resultados se crearían áreas que aún no existen, imaginen el resultado, mi mente ilusa está exagerando, pero imaginen: ¡En los proyectos universitarios, pueden llegar a dar muchos aportes a la humanidad!
Como madres y padres, tenemos un gran reto: día tras día debemos orientar a nuestros niños y colaborar con ellos en todo lo que podemos, sabiendo que a veces nos enfrentamos a ciertos desafíos que alcanzan niveles inimaginables cuando desarrollamos esta tarea. En lo personal, cada vez que visito el colegio de mi hijo que va en secundaria, se me vienen a la mente todos esos recuerdos. Mucho más intrigada quedé hoy, cuando todavía nos cuidamos de las secuelas de la pandemia, al ver la violencia verbal que recibió un alumno de un profesor, como respuesta a su pregunta sobre las evaluaciones de los próximos días. Todavía no me lo puedo creer: -- ¡Eres un irresponsable! -- alcancé a escuchar… -- ¡Debiste venir antes a buscarme para darte los temas! --
Instrucciones precisas, dichas en un todo agresivo… Fue ahí justo cuando yo pisé la entrada al salón y entonces el profesor al verme ofreció la hoja al muchacho, con el contenido del examen. Todavía me pregunto ¿Era necesaria toda esa tensión? ¿Qué hubiese pasado si yo no llego? ¿El joven habría recibido más humillación? Pero la duda vino después, cuando le dije al profesor que yo también estaba ahí por ese mismo contenido para mi hijo, la respuesta más inmediata que recibí de él fue:
-- ¿Por qué no vino él mismo (mi hijo) a buscar el contenido para las próximas evaluaciones? – Lo más preocupante fue su todo altanero y agresivo, como la que usan los cuerpos de seguridad en los internados donde procesan a los privados de libertad, ¡se los juro! Usa un lenguaje muy violento, y existe un alto porcentaje de profesores que se dirige de esa forma acusatoria hacia los jóvenes.
-- Porque está en clases, y yo soy su madre, él es un alumno muy responsable así que no veo el problema en ayudarlo. – le respondí. El profesor inmediatamente pronunció su próximo ataque:
-- ¡Así es que se crean los vagos! ¡Haciendo todo por ellos! Yo siempre estoy en esta oficina, ¿Por qué el alumno no vino antes? – En ese momento pude comprender que estaba parada frente a una persona totalmente incapacitada para ocupar ese lugar, sin ninguna vocación, con falta de ética y colmado de un insuperable estrés. Mi respuesta no tardó en salir de mi boca, usé un todo de voz bajo, pero totalmente tajante:
-- Mi hijo, ha venido más de seis veces, literalmente, a buscarlo aquí en su oficina para retirar el material, y ninguna de esas veces lo consiguió ¡Por eso estoy yo aquí! Y ayer estuve toda la mañana esperándolo y ¿qué le parece? ¡tampoco logré verlo! -- Por supuesto que lo que vino después fueron las palabras de un cabizbajo personaje que no encontraba la forma de excusarse.
Pensamientos de
una adolescente
El anterior me parece un triste episodio que me hace citar los pensamientos de la protagonista de la reciente serie de Merlina Addams, los cuales me llamaron mucho la atención:
"No sé quién tuvo la idea perversa de enviar a cientos de adolescentes a escuelas sin fondos suficientes, administradas por gente cuyos sueños se esfumaron hace años…”

Visto desde otro ángulo, en mi vida diaria he podido conocer muchos docentes, que poseen una gran vocación, y ponen en práctica muchas de sus aptitudes tan maravillosas, afirman estar dispuestos a servir a la causa noble de guiar a los jóvenes a descubrir su propio camino y sus propios talentos. Lo hacen muy bien, desarrollan naturalmente lo que para otros es una ardua tarea, ya que existe un considerable número de personas con traumas pasados tratando de trasmitir valores que ello mismos no poseen. Aun así, tengo fe en los muchos otros Docentes preocupados por el actual desempeño de los jóvenes y su futuro transitar. Si tan sólo se pudiera transformar el sistema educativo en los lugares en donde ya no funciona para los jóvenes de hoy, entonces pudiésemos dedicarnos a descubrir las fortalezas juveniles y ¡ayudarlos a desarrollarlas! que sigan su propio camino, donde no estén enmarcados dentro de un perfil preelaborado. ¡Mi mente sigue soñando!

Debo aclarar que no estoy en contra de la disciplina, por el contrario, lo que hace a un adulto organizado es haberle enseñado disciplina desde su niñez. A lo que hoy me refiero, es que estoy segura de que existen habilidades inexploradas en nuestros hijos, que ellos temen desarrollar como consecuencia de las cargas y presiones que consiguen en sus dirigentes académicos, ya que éstos priorizan su mayor objetivo en simplemente obtener buenas calificaciones. El mundo daría un giro si pudiésemos conocer nuevas ideas que hoy se encuentran encapsuladas en algún joven que sólo debe concentrarse en sacar buenas notas para complacer a la sociedad. Mamás y papás, tenemos mucho trabajo por hacer, así que ¡pongámonos en marcha!
