My Fungi Friday Walk was Productive [EN] // Mi Caminata para el Viernes Fungi fue Productiva [ES]

in Fungi Lovers3 years ago
After the rains of this week and taking advantage that today has been a day of bright sunshine and clear skies, I wanted to go out to the countryside in search of some mushrooms, I was walking about 5 km and when I was already turning around to return home I found a large fallen tree of Indio Desnudo - Bursera simaruba, which fell last year with the strong winds of the rainy season, here I found a whole Fungi ecosystem, and I was more than happy, although I knew that with this would come the intense search to know what species each one of these was.

These first images belong to what appears to be a fungi Trametes Betulina, by its coloration and shape, I think this as these emerge from the wood of dead trees, another species that similarly emerge from dead trees are the trametes versicolor, however I discard them by the coloration of this one in particular, since the turkey tails in the trametes versicolor characteristic of this type of fungi, have another type of coloration, tending to be darker, gray, black and brown tones and as its name indicates, they have several colors in its upper part.

This greenish color is due to the old age of the fungus is creating a kind of algae product of moisture, which sometimes gives them a look like a young fungus, but to tell the truth these fungi must have a good time perched on this old trunk.

Unlike versicolor, trametes betulina, are mushrooms about 2 centimeters (about 1 inch) thick, so that's another thing that makes me think I was in front of one of these. According to Wikipedia and Ultimate Mushroom , trametes betulina have medicinal properties, which make it be used in traditional Chinese medicine, so I still have a lot of research to do about these babies.

These little guys I show you below, I think they are of the same species as the previous ones only younger, so, if you know more of these little buddies, you could help me identify them.

These small ones that we see here the truth is that they leave me a little confused, because I am not entirely sure if they are fungi Ustulina deusta or lichen, which in the same way arise from decaying wood or dry wood, even the Ustulina emerges in trees still alive, and is causing its rotting, being a little more objective I am more inclined to say that this is lichen, which also serves as food for these other fungi that I showed them above.

And why I lean more towards lichen than another type of fungus such as ustulina, because if we evaluate the surroundings of the site where we observe it, we do not see signs of obvious rotting and these are rather dry laminas that look like scales of the tree. Anyway, I am convinced that my search this Friday was fruitful, what do you think?
