Lawyer's wig

in Fungi Lovers2 years ago

Heh, I never knew that Coprinus comatus is named lawyer's wig in English, but certainly the name fits :o)

It used to be very common where I grew up, however somehow I haven't seen it in years until recently. Specimens in the pictures were growing on the lawn
behind the church I've visited during recently finished vacation.

It is supposedly edible when young (before it starts to turn black), but I never tried. Looks awful when mature because it literally dissolves into black liquid that carries spores.
