Beautiful Reishi in Arizona

in Fungi Lovers2 years ago

Our monsoon season brought higher than usual moisture to the usually semi-arid landscape - lots of wildflowers, green grass and the occasional fungi sprouting forth to continue the cycle of life.

Here a couple of beautiful Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) are growing from the base of an old scrub oak, taking advantage of the increased moisture and protected shady spot to form some large fruiting bodies.

After all the rains the Reishi will shed there spores to continue the population.

I hope to gather some of the Reishi later this year and begin to make some alcohol, then water, extracts.

Mushrooms usually grow if there is a little moisture, after it rains, usually on the root of the wood, the spores are good to place, the photos are also good

We've had a good monsoon season this year so hopefully our water situation will be better (still pretty much a long-term drought out here). So nice to see so many more fungi on my outings but not nearly as plentiful as I had back in my Massachusetts forested home.

I'm happy to hear that there is a lot of rain pouring out. God's grace is given to water the earth from drought

Nice shots you had taken ❣️❣️
