Greetings, Hive! Today, May 4th, is the day in which the movie saga created by George Lucas in 1977 is celebrated and honored internationally: Star Wars. Loved by many and criticized by others, and full of so much controversy that has divided even the same fans, between: fans of the original trilogy, the trilogy prequels, the trilogy sequels, if the old canon or the new canon is better, etc, etc, etc... But that despite all this, it is undoubtedly a fundamental pillar within pop culture as we know it today. So I want to take this opportunity to talk about my favorite moments belonging to the movies of the saga.
So without any further ado, join me in this trip to a galaxy far, far away and let's start!
As any good fan of the geek culture, it is obvious that I’m a Star Wars fan, however this wasn’t always this way. For a long time I was recommended to watch this saga but I simply forgot to do it or didn't pay attention to the recommendations, until, one day (around 2011 - 2012), The Empire Strikes Back was on TV and I said: "Ok, why not?" and well, the rest is history. Even though I basically already knew the plot of the movie thanks to the hundreds and hundreds of references about it in pop culture (really, there are so many), that didn't stop me from enjoying this movie too much.

I immediately came to the internet to download Episode IV: A New Hope, and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. I also knew that there were three movies that came out after the original trilogy (I had actually seen one of them in the theater, but I was too young to remember exactly what happened, I only remembered laser beams and lightsabers) so I downloaded those ones too and caught up.

What I always liked most about this saga was how the good guys and the bad guys made use of the same power but having different results depending on the balance of their feelings: The Force, and all this mysticism that surrounds it kept me easily hooked during 6 movies. Ah! And not to mention the soundtrack, the work done by the master John Williams throughout this saga has no equal.
All of this had me very excited when a new trilogy of sequels was announced by Disney (after buying the franchise from George Lucas), until 2015 when Episode VII: The Force Awakens came out, and while it wasn't that bad (in fact I enjoyed it a lot), we know what happened with the next two installments...
But anyway, I'm already spreading myself too thin, so let's get down to business: my favorite Star Wars moments.

#3 Rey meets Luke Skywalker - The Force Awakens
Before there is a massive lynching in the comments, I want to clarify that I include this moment because of what I felt and the impressions it caused me the day of the premiere at the cinema. First of all, throughout the film we are told about those brave rebels who fought against the galactic empire, and that thanks to them the foundations of democracy in the galaxy were founded. We are told about Han Solo, Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker and The Force as legends, almost as if they were a myth, until our new cast of protagonists gets to know all these characters and elements. But it isn’t until the end of the film that is completed the map that leads to the legendary Jedi who was able to bring Darth Vader himself from the dark side of the force: Luke Skywalker. It's been 30 years since we last saw him, and we can only imagine that he has become the most powerful force user as well as someone very wise who will guide Rey in her training in The Force. The scene is presented to us without dialogue, accompanied musically by Rey's theme along with the theme of The Force, when they finally see each other, there are no words to say: Rey pulls out Luke's lightsaber and with a look held between the two characters the movie ends. PLEASE! What a way to end a movie, it was just great. This had me waiting impatiently two years to see what would happen next until... We better get going to the next moment.
#2 Anakin vs Obi-Wan - Revenge of the Sith
Are we aware of the enormous emotional charge of this fight? Fighting Obi-Wan is Anakin's last step in turning completely to the dark side of the force. Completely blinded by anger, hatred, and fear, humiliated by the Jedi council, with his mother and wife lost, there is nothing left for Anakin, or rather, there is: his former friend and master Obi-Wan Kenobi. The scenario where this fight takes place is on the planet Mustafar, a hostile planet full of mountains, magma rivers and volcanic explosions; the music that accompanies it is Duel of the Fates by master John Williams; the choreography of the fight is simply impressive and we really feel that we are watching the two best users of the lightsaber in the galaxy. An epic fight with a sad ending that seals the fate of the entire galaxy.
#1 Darth Vader intercepts the rebel ship - Rogue One
Rogue One is, in my opinion, a very underrated movie. In this film we are told how the rebels get the plans of the Death Star that we see in Episode IV. Unlike most of the films in the franchise, here there is no one who is "the chosen one", we see no epic lightsaber confrontations, we see no one directly using The Force, except in one small scene, until... After an entire fleet of rebels sacrifice themselves to get the Death Star plans, they are accosted by the Sith master himself, Darth Vader. I don't know if it's okay to get so excited about seeing a villain strangling and cutting people in half, but it's just that the tension they put us in before his appearance, then focus the scene on a completely dark room that happens to be illuminated with our beloved villain's red lightsaber, is just wonderful. This scene IS STAR WARS at its best, a well-deserved tribute to one of the most beloved villains in cinema history.
And we finish this journey through the stars, my young Padawans. I'm not up to date with the current canon and I haven't seen The Mandalorian series either (which I've been told is excellent), but regardless of what Star Wars is nowadays, I'm still sticking with the moments that marked me when I first saw it. I'm still sticking with a franchise that forever marked an entire culture and that has made me try to move objects through the force more than once. ¡Saludos, Hive! Hoy, 4 de mayo, es el día en el que internacionalmente se celebra y se homenajea a la saga de películas creada por George Lucas en 1977: Star Wars, amada por muchos y criticada por otros, y llena de tanta polémica que ha dividido hasta a los mismos fans entre: fanáticos de la trilogía original, la trilogía de las precuelas, la trilogía de las secuelas, que si el canon viejo o el canon nuevo es mejor, etc, etc, etc… Pero que a pesar de todo esto, es sin lugar a dudas un pilar fundamental dentro de la historia pop como la conocemos hoy en día. Así que quiero aprovechar esta oportunidad para hablar acerca de mis momentos favoritos pertenecientes a las películas de la saga.
¡Así que sin más preámbulo, acompáñenme a una galaxia muy muy lejana y comencemos!
Como todo buen fanático del mundo geek, es obvio que soy fanático de Star Wars, sin embargo esto no fue siempre así. Durante mucho tiempo me recomendaron ver esta saga pero simplemente se me olvidaba o no le prestaba atención a las recomendaciones, hasta que, un día (más o menos por el 2011 – 2012), estaban pasando The Empire Strikes Back en televisión y dije: “Bueno, ¿por qué no?” y pues, el resto es historia. A pesar de que básicamente ya conocía la trama de la película gracias a las cientos y cientos de referencias que hay de ella en la cultura pop (de verdad, hay muchísimas) eso no me impidió disfrutar demasiado esta película.

Inmediatamente vine a internet a descargar Episode IV: A New Hope, y Episode VI: Return of the Jedi también sabía que habían tres películas que salieron después de la trilogía original (de hecho había visto una de ellas en el cine, pero era muy pequeño para recordar con exactitud lo que pasaba, solo recordaba rayos laser y espadas laser) así que también las descargué y me puse al día.

Lo que más me gusto siempre de esta saga fue como los buenos y los malos hacían uso del mismo poder pero teniendo resultados distintos dependiendo del equilibrio de sentimientos que haya en ti: La Fuerza, y todo este misticismo que la rodea me mantuvo fácilmente enganchado por 6 películas. ¡Ah! Y ni hablar de la banda sonora, el trabajo que ha hecho el maestro Jhon Williams a lo largo de esta saga no tiene igual.
Todo esto me tenía muy emocionado cuándo se anunció una nueva trilogía de secuelas por parte de Disney (después de comprarle la franquicia a George Lucas), hasta que en el 2015 salió Episode VII: The Force Awakens que si bien, no estuvo mal (de hecho la disfruté bastante) sabemos lo que pasó con las dos siguientes entregas…
Pero bueno, ya me estoy extendiendo demasiado, así que vayamos a lo que nos corresponde: mis momentos favoritos de Star Wars.

#3 Rey conoce a Luke Skywalker – The Force Awakens
Antes de que haya un linchamiento masivo en los comentarios, quiero aclarar que incluyo este momento por lo que sentí y las impresiones que me causó el día del estreno en el cine. Primero que nada, durante toda la película se nos habla de aquellos valientes rebeldes que pelearon contra el imperio galáctico y que gracias a ellos se fundaron las bases de la democracia en la galaxia. Se nos habla de Han Solo, Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker y de la fuerza como unas leyendas, casi como si fuesen un mito, hasta que nuestro nuevo elenco de protagonistas va conociendo todos estos personajes y elementos. Pero no es sino hasta el final de la película que por fin se puede completar el mapa que lleva hacia el legendario Jedi que fue capaz de sacar al mismísimo Darth Vader del lado oscuro de la fuerza: Luke Skywalker. Han pasado 30 años desde que lo vimos por última vez, y no podemos más que imaginarnos en que se ha convertido en el más poderoso usuario de la fuerza así como también alguien muy sabio que guiará a Rey en su entrenamiento de la fuerza. La escena se nos presenta sin diálogos, acompañados musicalmente por el tema de Rey junto con el tema de La Fuerza, cuándo por fin se ven, no hay palabras que decir: Rey saca el sable de luz de Luke y con una mirada sostenida entre los dos personajes terminamos la película. ¡POR FAVOR! Qué manera de terminar una película, fue simplemente genial. Esto me tuvo dos años esperando impacientemente para ver qué pasaba hasta que bueno… Mejor vamos al siguiente momento.
#2 Anakin vs Obi-Wan - Revenge of the Sith
¿Estamos conscientes de la enorme carga emocional que tiene esta pelea? Pelear contra Obi-Wan es el último paso de Anakin para pasar completamente al lado oscuro de la fuerza. Cegado completamente por la ira, el odio, y el miedo, humillado por el consejo Jedi, con su madre y esposa perdidas, ya no queda más nada para Anakin, o, mejor dicho, si queda: su antiguo amigo y maestro Obi-Wan Kenobi. El escenario donde se lleva a cabo esta pelea es en el planeta Mustafar, un planeta hostil lleno montañas, ríos de magma y explosiones volcánicas; la música que la acompaña es Duel of the Fates del maestro Jhon Williams; la coreografía de la pelea es simplemente impresionante y de verdad sentimos que estamos viendo a los dos mejores usuarios del sable de luz de toda la galaxia. Una épica pelea con un triste final que sella el destino de la galaxia entera.
#1 Darth Vader intercepta la nave rebelde – Rogue One
Rogue One, en mi opinión, es una película muy infravalora. En esta película se nos cuenta como los rebeldes consiguen los planos de la Estrella de la Muerte que vemos en Episodio IV. A diferencia de la mayoría de las películas de la franquicia, aquí no hay nadie que sea “el elegido”, no vemos enfrentamientos épicos de sables de luz, no vemos a nadie usar directamente La Fuerza salvo en una pequeña escena, hasta qué… Cuándo después de que una flota entera de rebeldes se sacrificara para conseguir los planos de la Estrella de la Muerte, sean abordados por el mismísimo maestro Sith, Darth Vader. No sé si está bien emocionarse tanto por ver a un villano estrangulando y cortando gente por la mitad, pero es que la tensión en la que nos ponen antes de su aparición, para luego enfocar la escena en un cuarto completamente oscuro que pasa a ser iluminado con el sable de luz rojo de nuestro querido villano, es simplemente maravilloso. Esta escena ES STAR WARS en su máximo, un muy merecido homenaje a uno de los villanos más queridos en la historia del cine.
Y hasta aquí este viaje a través de las estrellas, mis jóvenes Padawan. No estoy al día con el canon actual y no he visto tampoco la serie The Mandalorian (que me han dicho que es excelente), pero a pesar de lo que Star Wars sea hoy en día, me sigo quedando con los momentos que me marcaron cuándo la vi por primera vez. Me sigo quedando con una franquicia que marcó para siempre toda una cultura y que me ha hecho intentar mover objetos a través de la fuerza más de una vez. Cuéntenme ustedes, ¿Cuál es su momento favorito de toda la saga?

Como siempre, excelente post aldanita. Todos esos momentos de verdad son increibles!!! Son Star Wars en mayúsculas sostenidas y luces de Neon. La pelea de Luke y Kenobi es de mis momentos favoritos y el tema es completamente mi Favorito por mucho.
Yo agregaría la pelea de Yoda contra el Conde Dooku, adoro esa pelea!! A demás El ataque de los clones es mi película favorita.. la he visto miles de veces...
Ah y la boda de Anakin y Padmé <3 porque si ps... que viva el amor
:o Que el ataque de los clones sea tu película favorita es super polémico... Creo que es la que menos me gusta a mi, se me hace len ti si ma, y es bien chimbo porque toda la trama política de esa película es fundamental para el universo de Star Wars.
Y si, la pelea de Yoda y Dooku es una joya, y es la primera vez que se vio a Yoda en acción! Y valió la pena la espera.
Jaja si...lo se... Pero creo que también tiene que ver con que fue la primera que vi de la franquicia conscientemente y no me afectó en nada lo lenta que es.

Darth Vader's big reveal will always be the most iconic moment in the whole franchise.
I agree with you, unfortunately when I first saw The Empire Strikes Back I already knew about that plot twist, so it didn't surprise me at all. However I recongnize it as a very important moment in the franchise and cinema history.
Amo esos momentos de Rogue One y Revenge Of The Sith, estoy totalmente de acuerdo en eso. Me diste ganas de tocar ese mismo tema en un post, jaja.
Personalmente hay un momento que me encanta y es en The Last Jedi (No me maten): Cuando al final de la cinta Rey y Kylo unen fuerzas y acaban con los guardias de Snoke, aunque las secuelas están plagadas de errores, siempre me gustó como manejaron la historia de Kylo, y esa escena es una culminación de multiples conflictos que se van desarrollando a lo largo del film.

Creo que la trilogía de secuelas tiene cosas muy rescatables en cuanto a los personajes nuevos, a mi me gustó mucho que en The Last Jedi el desarrollo de Kylo Ren lo llevó a tomar la decisión de dejar de ser un segundon de Snoke, matarlo, dar paso a la escena que mencionaste, y tomar el mando de la Primera Orden. El problema con las secuelas, en mi opinión, es que no respetan para nada lo que estaba establecido anteriormente y eso le resta seriedad a la propia continuidad de la saga.
Totalmente de acuerdo, es que ni se respetan a ellas mismas, con todo el asunto de hacer que Rey fuese nieta de Palpatine cuando una peli antes dijeron que era hija de unos don nadie 😅
