Greetings to everyone in this entertaining community, I have decided to make my first publication here by bringing you a movie I saw recently and that apart from the fiction of the cinematographic art, it raises certain premises that today are jumping to the table and are beginning to be seen as probable.

Title: Replicas
Genre: Science Fiction
Main Cast: Keanu Reeves, Alice Eve, Thomas Middleditch

The feature film touches on a subject that has always been controversial but appealing, a situation that becomes even more interesting in this era in which technology shows us extraordinary scenarios. In this case, it initially deals with cloning or the transfer of consciousness in recently deceased corpses, as well as human cloning.

Reparto: Keanu Reeves, Alice Eve, Thomas Middleditch

It is inevitable to watch this film and not end up asking ourselves some questions:

  • If you could revive your family would you do it?
  • Do you consider it ethical to use your scientific knowledge for personal gain?
  • From a religious or metaphysical point of view, is cloning valid?
  • Is it possible to feel love for a person knowing that he or she is not the "original person"?
  • What will a cloned person feel?

There are many questions to which the essence of this plot can lead us.

In the film, Keanu Reeves, as always, looks comfortable in futuristic interpretations and avant-garde technological processes.

Our protagonist's existence, William Foster, unfolds between his brilliant career as a brilliant neuroscientist in a government-controlled laboratory, under pressure from the powerful owners of the company, his solo experimentations, as well as family love and moments shared with his wife and children in what seems to be a perfect family until death makes an appearance and he decides to bring them back.

The similarity with other cinematographic works such as Frankenstein, The Bicentennial Man or even The Fly, have been brought to light by expert critics, since the main theme, as I mentioned at the beginning, has been exploited in many ways by the industry.

Among the negative criticisms are mentioned the lack of a strong support in the use of dialogue, and likewise, the unconvincing performance of Keanu Reeves when experiencing the family tragedy, in which I must say that I agree, taking into consideration the magnitude of what happened, the pain of the character fails to move or impress, however these nuances from my point of view can be justified if we analyze that the character is a scientist who have always been characterized in general in showing more analysis and less emotionality.

The cinematographic idea of reviving loved ones is not new, however the questioning that always arises within the scientific, ethical, moral and even religious context is extremely interesting and thought-provoking.

And even if Replicas has many detractors because of some plot inconsistencies I believe that anyone who enjoys the science fiction genre will find this film entertaining, with the added bonus of leaving an interesting debate or controversy in the air around this controversial topic that undoubtedly, according to my perception, raises a fact that could be consummated in a hidden way to the media at this time..

Not sure if he brought his family back to life but one thing that I'm sure of is, he will surely bring his dog back to life. Good review btw 👍, that criticism on Acting part is a bit turn-off still I'll put it in my sci-fi list.

Hahaha it's true about the dog.... I liked the movie, you have to watch it and create your own impressions. It is a topic that with all that we are seeing in these times is more than ever in force. I wouldn't call it fiction. Thanks to you.

Anything keanu Reeves is appealing to me.

Wow, this questions are really deep. I wonder how the movie would make me feel. It has to be very emotional. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, Keanu Reeves is also one of my favorite actors, I hope you can enjoy this movie as much as I did. Thanks for reading and commenting.

It is a subject that I am passionate about. I devour movies and series that deal with this. I always think about when humans can be cloned and all the consequences of it. I even think there are secret bases working on it hahahaha, it's my paranoid mind speculating.

I also see in the future the advancement of AI and the creation of androids, people who lost a loved one and have the opportunity to buy an android programmed with the image of that being who is no longer there. big changes for the world and a challenge for science and society, to determine how far the ethical goes.

I know I will not see these changes, but I hope my grandchildren will be able to see this scientific advance.

I believe that we will see it, it is not conspiratorial to think that they are already doing it in secret, sooner than we imagine I am sure that great advances on this subject will come to light. It is something exciting, but at the same time I have respect for it, I feel that what we know as human is on the way to be lost with the arrival of transhumanism...

Thank you very much for your interesting comment.

damn, I have watched this movie and I really enjoyed it really. While watching it, I thought as well of these questions that you have asked. would I love to make a replica of someone I lost? how would it feel. sincerely, if I have the opportunity to try making a replica in real life, I would not give it a second thought.

Good thing you've already seen it! It's a movie that's not very well known yet, although it's been out for more than two years.

I think that if I had the opportunity to make a replica of a loved one I would do it too, but I would always have the fear that something would go wrong and my relative would end up with 3 eyes hahaha or the fear that he/she would die before his/her time... again.

It really is something exciting, it would be nice if we could make a backup of our consciousness and have it stored over there, maybe it is a way to become immortal, not in body but in soul.

I remember being a bit excited about this film when it was first released but ultimately decided to skip it due to its low reviews. I am not sure if it is worth watching but since I am a huge scifi fan I might as will give it a watch and decide for myself if it is good or not.

Saludos!
