I am not a big lover of Disney movies, and less so in these times where they want to convey negative messages to society, such as parents without authority, rebellious and disobedient children, empowered women, gender diversity and much more. However, having young children and being responsible for their education, I have no choice but to watch these movies with them, take the good and discard the bad, plus it is an opportunity to continue teaching and influencing the growth of my little ones.
Luca's film had caught my attention when I saw the trailers, it seemed interesting beyond its evolutionary theory, so I took the time to watch it, and it really exceeded my expectations. As a negative point of the message, I can only cite the cowardly father of the main character and the authoritative mother, who is the only one who has the "pants in the house" so to speak, being that very thing that pushes Luca - our protagonist - to make tenacious decisions regarding his own life.
No soy muy amante de las películas de Disney, y menos en estos tiempos donde quieren transmitir mensajes negativos a la sociedad, como por ejemplo padres sin autoridad, niños rebeldes y desobedientes, mujeres empoderadas, diversidad de género y mucho más. Sin embargo, al tener niños pequeños y ser responsable de su educación, no me queda otra opción que ver estas películas con ellos, tomar lo bueno y desechar lo malo, además es una oportunidad para seguir enseñando e influyendo en el crecimiento de mis pequeñines.
La película de Luca me había llamado un poco la atención cuando vi los trailers, me pareció interesante más allá de su teoría evolutiva, asi que me tome el tiempo para verla, y de verdad supero mis expectativas. Como punto negativo del mensaje, solo puedo citar al padre cobarde del personaje principal y la madre autoritativa, quien es la única que tiene los “pantalones en la casa” por decirlo de alguna manera, siendo eso mismo lo que empuja a Luca – nuestro protagonista – a tomar decisiones tenaces con respecto a su propia vida.
On the coasts of Italy / En las costas de Italia
Luca is an overprotected child, fearful and unsure of himself, his day to day life is based on running away from fishing boats and doing housework, nothing more, until one day he meets Alberto and from there his life changes forever. Alberto is an orphan boy, abandoned by his father, a truth that comes out later in the story, but Alberto is a determined young man, although ignorant of many things, his dream is to leave the island and live like a human.
At this point an important part of the plot is revealed, Alberto and Luca are members of a marine species with human traits, but when they come to the surface they become completely human, the only detail is that if they get wet they return to their original appearance. Because of these they are considered as sea monsters by the people who live on the surface, and at the same time they are very feared by them. Luca did not know this truth until he met Alberto, who in his loneliness was planning how to live as a human and travel the world on a motorcycle.
Luca es un niño sobreprotegido, temeroso e inseguro de sí mismo, su día a día se basa en huir de barcos pesqueros y hacer las tareas del hogar, nada más, hasta que un día conoce a Alberto y a partir de allí su vida cambia para siempre. Alberto es un niño huérfano, abandonado por su padre, una verdad que sale a relucir más adelante en la historia, pero Alberto es un joven decidido, aunque ignorante de muchas cosas, su sueño es salir de la isla y vivir como un humano.
En este punto se nos revela parte importante de la trama, Alberto y Luca son miembros de una especie marina con rasgos humanos, pero cuando salen a la superficie se convierten en humanos completamente, el único detalle es que si se mojan vuelven a tomar su apariencia original. Debido a estos son considerados como monstruos marinos por las personas que viven en la superficie, y a la vez son muy temidos por ellos. Luca no conocía esta verdad hasta que conoce a Alberto, quien en su soledad se la pasaba planeando como vivir siendo humano y recorrer el mundo en una motocicleta.

The story of friendship between the two is quite beautiful and at the same time very deep, they are two children who want to be happy, one without parents and the other a slave to them, so when they unite they become inseparable friends. Between the two of them they put together something like a motorcycle and begin to enjoy themselves on the island, keeping their secret alive. After that they decide to go to the surface and live like humans, participate in a race similar to a triathlon, win it and go to travel the world on a real motorcycle, the famous Vespa, as they call it in the movie. It is a rather childish dream, but it is one of the things that strikes me most in the whole story, since being children they go after that ideal, and that is when the real adventure and entertainment begins.
Living as humans without being human is very interesting, since they don't know anything about the customs of the people, but as they relate to them they begin to understand certain things. It is then that Julia appears, a very tenacious girl, just like Alberto, determined to win the annual race that she has lost many times thanks to an abusive trio.
After meeting "the two sea monsters" she becomes their friend, although she does not know their secret, but she brings them to her home and "adopts" them together with their father, who takes them fishing every day while the race is running.
Luca and Alberto's life is changing without them realizing it, Luca is clinging to humans, but his inseparable friend is focused on his goal, although he is being loved by Julia's father who sees him as a son. But Alberto notices Luca's inclinations and begins to get annoyed, even being rebellious with Julia at times. This event takes importance and gives rise to the first fight between the two, where the truth of his nature is revealed to Julia, but there is a kind of betrayal of Luca in that instant that I prefer not to tell here, but gives rise to the final denouement of the whole film, which is quite beautiful and pleasant to watch.
La historia de amistad entre los dos es bastante bonita y a la vez muy profunda, son dos niños que quieren ser felices, uno sin padres y el otro esclavo de ellos, por lo que al unirse se vuelven amigos inseparables. Entre los dos arman algo parecido a una motocicleta y comienzan a disfrutar en la isla, manteniendo vivo su secreto. Luego de eso deciden ir a la superficie y vivir como humanos, participar en una carrera parecida a un triatlón, ganarla e irse a recorrer el mundo en una motocicleta de verdad, la famosa Vespa, como la llaman en la película. Es un sueño bastante infantil, pero es una de las cosas que más me llama la atención de toda la historia, ya que al ser niños van tras ese ideal, y es entonces cuando comienza la verdadera aventura y entretenimiento.
Vivir como humanos sin serlo es muy interesante, pues no saben nada de las costumbres de las personas, pero al relacionarse con ellos comienzan a entender ciertas cosas. Es en ese entonces que aparece Julia, una niña muy tenaz, igual que Alberto, decidida a ganar la carrera anual que ha perdido en muchas oportunidades gracias a un trio abusivo.
Luego de conocer a “los dos monstruos marinos” se convierte en su amiga, aunque no sabe su secreto, pero los trae a su hogar y los “adopta” junto a su padre, quien se los lleva a pescar diariamente mientras se cumple el tiempo de la carrera.
La vida de Luca y Alberto va cambiando sin ellos darse cuenta, Luca se está aferrando a los humanos, pero su inseparable amigo está enfocado en su objetivo, aunque está siendo amado por el padre de Julia que lo ve como un hijo. Pero Alberto nota las inclinaciones de Luca y comienza a molestarse, incluso se muestra rebelde con Julia en ocasiones. Este suceso toma importancia y da origen a la primera pelea entre ambos, donde se revela la verdad de su naturaleza a Julia, pero hay una especie de traición de Luca en ese instante que prefiero no contar por acá, pero da origen al desenlace final de toda la película, el cual es bastante hermoso y agradable de observar.

Final Thoughts / Pensamientos finales
I think this movie goes up a step in the last Disney productions, it is a story of tenacity, being this the main point in the realization of the objectives in the characters of the movie, which is constituted as a clear message for the viewers - myself included - who many times we fail to achieve something for not daring to do. It is something common in our character but also a call to dare to do more, maybe we will be surprised by what we can achieve. On the other hand, it also shows us the negativity of a dysfunctional home, and in this sense I am not talking about families with different parents, but a home where the roles have been reversed, that is something that will always bring problems because it is not the right order of things, and in this film is reflected to perfection. To conclude, I must say that love is what prevails, at the end of the day it is the most important thing, Luca was a happy child just like his friend Alberto who was able to get what he had lost, and the only thing he needed to grow up healthy.
Pienso que esta película sube un escalón en las últimas producciones de Disney, es una historia de tenacidad, siendo esta el punto principal en la realización de los objetivos en los personajes de la película, lo cual se constituye como un mensaje claro para los espectadores –me incluyo- quienes muchas veces dejamos de alcanzar algo por no atrevernos a hacer. Es algo común en nuestro carácter pero también un llamado a atrevernos a mas, quizás nos sorprendamos de lo que podamos obtener. Por otro lado, también nos muestra la negatividad de un hogar disfuncional, y en este sentido no hablo de familias de diferentes padres, sino de un hogar donde los roles se han invertido, eso es algo que siempre traerá problemas porque no es el orden correcto de las cosas, y en esta película se ve reflejado a la perfección. Para concluir, debo decir que el amor es lo que prevalece, al final de cuentas es lo más importante, Luca fue un niño feliz al igual que su amigo Alberto quien pudo conseguir lo que había perdido, y lo único que necesitaba para crecer sanamente.

I watched Luca a while back and it has the right amount of childish innocence that makes it nostalgic.
Luca and Alberto had pretty big dreams as children, their greatest wish being to win a motorcycle so they can be free to travel the world as humans on the surface.
I tend to forget what it was like sometimes, being a child and thinking about all the little things that our minds interpret as our greatest wishes lol.
One thing I loved about the film was how accepting the surface humans were about Luca's species in the end. It seems a little bit unrealistic in comparison to modern times but I like how films make us see or consider the possibilities in seemingly impossible situations.
In the light of everything, I'd definitely recommend that anybody that hasn't seen this movie yet should see it.

That's right my friend, truly Luca and Alberto reflect the dreams of innocent children who know nothing of real life, but that is something very interesting and that is what leads them to achieve things that they did not even imagine, Alberto got the father he lost and Luca could live among humans as if he were one, it is truly a beautiful story.

Hey! Con esta película me reí muchísimo, de verdad me pareció bastante entretenida y tierna en muchos sentidos. Sé que hubo una ola de Hate por el hecho de que muchos asumen que dan alusión a las relaciones homosexuales entre niños, pero si esa fué la intención del director, yo elegí no verla desde ese punto de vista. Me quedo con la lección de constancia, amistad y apoyo familiar que nos regaló ✨
Honestamente creo que hay mucha ignorancia en las personas que comentaron eso. Entiendo que el tema del homosexualismo es una de las metas actuales de Disney, pero no ví nada de eso en esta película, lo de Alberto y Luca es amistad sincera y nada más. Las actitudes de Alberto hacia Julia era porque Luca se estaba enfocando en otras cosas, como ir a la escuela, y estaba haciendo de lado el plan original que tenían de recorrer el mundo en una Vespa, lo cual era un sueño bastante trivial e infantil.
¿Verdad? Eso no me pasó por la mente al verla, por eso me sorprendí al ver ese tipo de comentarios. Creo que la sociedad está tan dañada, que ya hasta el sentido de la amistad y amor fraternal se ha perdido 🤷
Y muchas cosas más...no solo eso se ha perdido.

Love always prevails. Also Lucas was determined to do more and actually believed even if he had to betray his friend at some point. When we actually dare to do more, we always do more than we imagined, I can testify to that. Greetings friends, this is a very nice movie and full of many feelings and beyond the characters, the message that wants to convey a message of reflection. I saw this movie a few weeks ago and I really enjoyed it and even more when you are with your family or any other person. I liked that touch you give it, also I called much attention to this series of friends who know each other and really were always united, despite all the adversities that happen. A pleasure to have read it and thank you for sharing it with us.
La amistad es un valor muy resaltado en esta película, me gustó bastante como Luca y Alberto la trazaron, en ocasiones fueron un poco egoístas entre si, pero es algo que suele suceder, sin embargo su unidad prevaleció hasta el final, algo que fue el climax en la última escena, cuando Alberto vende la Vespa para comprarle el boleto a Luca, de verdad que fue un acto bastante generoso.

Esta película es muy bonita y deja un mensaje muy importante tanto para los más grandes de la casa, como para los más pequeños. En primer lugar, la amistad es tratada de gran forma, con los vaivenes y peleas que puedan presentarse, pues al final, todos somos egoístas y queremos lo mejor para nosotros, y solo cuando somos capaces de poner eso a un lado, es donde se demuestra la verdadera amistad.
De igual forma, debemos aprender que no todos pueden ser una imagen de nosotros, Luca tenía diferentes sueños y objetivos, y pese a que no estaba alineados con el sentir de sus padres, finalmente logró poder salir de su lago y conocer el mundo.
La animación y la historia también estuvieron muy bien, y pese a no ser de mis películas de Pixar favoritas, siempre será una recomendación que pueda hacerle a quien sea. Saludos hermano!
Si claro, la idea como padres es guiarlos a buen puerto, los padres de Luca solo querían tenerlo en el fondo marino viviendo como ellos, ocultándole verdades y mucho más. Sin embargo la inclusión de Alberto fue la que llevo a Luca a buscar sus sueños aún en contra de sus padres.
Realmente es una película que vale la pena recomendar. Aprecio tu visita y comentario.

This movie was a success for the little ones of the house, it taught us the value of true friendship, Lucca and Bruno made a great team in this movie, the animation in my opinion was perfect to be a movie for children, even for adults is too good, the fantasy of becoming humans and fishes was very good.
I think it's the best movie I've seen from Disney this year, its story really enchanted me. Luca and Alberto fulfilled their dreams and were happy, as all children should be.
