Howdy my cinephile friends, we finally have winners of the 79th Golden Globe Awards last January 9th, and we have had several surprises, but also many of our predictions have been confirmed. In my case I try to watch some of the nominated movies and series before the winners are announced. Among the nominated series I got to see Lupin, it is very good and I really recommend it, I am looking forward to the third season, The Squid Game which I personally didn't like and Succession which I just reviewed and was my favorite for the award, I got that one right.
Que tal mis amigos cinéfilos, por fin tenemos ganadores de la 79 entrega de los premios Golden Globe el pasado 9 de enero, y nos hemos llevado varias sorpresas, pero también se han confirmado muchas de nuestras predicciones. En mi caso trato de ver antes de que se anuncien los ganadores algunos de las películas nominadas y de las series. Entre las series nominadas alcance a ver Lupin, es muy buena verdaderamente la recomiendo espero la tercera temporada con ansias, el Juego del Calamar que personalmente no me gusto y Succession que acabo de reseñar y era mi favorita para el premio, a esa le atine. As for the movies I started to watch The Power of The Dog but I did not finish it but I had seen Dune and King Richard, the latter I really liked and I swore it would be the winner of the Golden Globe for best dramatic film, but now I see that I should have seen the complete The Power of the Dog, however, I still believe that King Richard is a great movie with a great message that everyone should see, and so today I bring you my opinion.
A small additional fact regarding the reviews, an interesting phenomenon that I usually see repeated for some time, is that not always what the audience likes the most will win awards, we can see an example in the famous review site Rotten Tomatoes, for The Power of the Dog with less than 50 verified ratings, it reached 82% audience acceptance, but 95% acceptance and good reviews by more than 300 reviews from the experts of the site. On the other hand, King Richard received more than 1000 ratings from the audience with 98% acceptance and 252 reviews from the critics received 90% acceptance, draw your own conclusions.
En cuanto a las películas empecé a ver The Power of The Dog pero no alcance a terminarla pero si había visto completas Dune y King Richard, esta ultima me gusto mucho y juraba que seria la ganadora del Globo de Oro a mejor película dramática, pero ya veo que debí ver completa The Power of the Dog, sin embargo, sigo creyendo que King Richard es una gran película con un gran mensaje que todos deben ver, y por ero hoy les traigo mi opinión.
Un pequeño dato adicional con respectos a las críticas, un interesante fenómeno que suelo ver repetirse desde hace algún tiempo, es que no siempre lo que más le gusta a la audiencia será ganador de premios, podemos ver un ejemplo en la famosa página de críticas Rotten Tomatoes, para The Power of the Dog con menos de 50 valoraciones verificadas, alcanzo un 82 % de aceptación de la audiencia, pero un 95 % de aceptación y buenas criticas por mas de 300 reviews de los expertos de la página. The film is based on the life of William Richard, father of Serena and Venus William, famous tennis players from the early 90's to the present day, where they begin their training as tennis players based on a 78-page plan of their father to become the best tennis players of all time, and time proved him right.

The film shows us the beginnings of the execution of this plan, we see Richard William played by Will Smith, training his daughters in a court in deplorable conditions in Compton considered the ghetto of California. The scene at first is shocking, we see a very disciplined family, very obedient daughters who trust their father, who makes sure to motivate them constantly, surrounded by the worst gangsters in the area.

The film sticks to real life events that were well documented, because Richard kept an audiovisual record of all the progress of his daughters throughout their development as athletes, so it is possible to compare many of the facts with actual videos of the events. One of the most transcendental was Richard's interruption of a sports interview with a young Venus, where the journalist tried to undermine her confidence, being a barely known athlete, is a strong scene that demonstrates the commitment of a father to his goal.
La película se apega a los hechos de la vida real que fueron bien documentados, debido a que Richard se encargo de llevar un registro audiovisual de todos los avances de sus hijas a lo largo de su desarrollo como atletas, así que es posible comparar muchos de los hechos con videos reales de los acontecimientos. Uno de los mas transcendentales fue la interrupción de Richard a una entrevista deportiva a una joven Venus, donde el periodista trataba de socavar su confianza, siendo una atleta apenas conocida, es una escena fuerte que demuestra el compromiso de un padre con su meta.
The character of William is very well played by Smith, we see him out of his comfort zone where he usually uses his charm in almost every role he plays, to play a grown man, with a very strong character marked by all the shortcomings of his life, and the events of racial discrimination of which he was a victim. Smith not only stars in the film but is also involved in the production along with the William's older sister Isha Price, making it clear that this film is a family project, being a kind of praise to his father.
El personaje de William esta muy bien interpretado por Smith, lo vemos salir de su zona de confort donde suele utilizar su encanto en casi todos los papeles que desempaña, para interpretar a un hombre adulto, con un carácter muy fuerte marcado por todas las carencias de su vida, y los eventos de discriminación racial de los que fue víctima. Smith no solo protagoniza la película también esta involucrado en la producción junto a la hermana mayor de las William Isha Price, dejando claro que esta película es un proyecto familiar, siendo una especie de alabanza a su padre.
I must confess that I liked the movie in general, as a sports lover, I had the opportunity to see the Williams sisters compete many times and demonstrate their sporting supremacy in tennis, I always thought they were too much for this sport, many times I criticized them because their physical power was extremely superior to their opponents and I thought they should not be allowed to participate, but I have changed my opinion, thanks to this movie, because it is possible to witness all the hard work they had to do to become what they are.
Debo confesar que la película en general me gustó mucho, como amante de los deportes, tuve la oportunidad de ver a las hermanas Williams competir muchas veces y demostrar su supremacía deportiva en el tenis, siempre pensé que eran demasiado para este deporte, muchas veces las critique porque su potencia física superaban extremadamente a sus contrincantes y creí que no se les debia dejar participar, pero he cambiado mi opinión, gracias a esta película, porque es posible ser testigo de todo el trabajo duro que tuvieron que hacer para llegar a ser lo que son.
It is clear that the main message of the film is the importance of developing plans for our life and working hard on it, that is why the phrase "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail" is so impactful and was the maxim of life of this incredible family. I recommend watching it as a family, it is a motivational film, which can be perfectly used to send a message to those who need to learn to make sacrifices and plans.
Es claro que el mensaje principal de la película es la importancia de desarrollar planes para nuestra vida y trabajar duro al respecto, por eso la frase “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail” que causa impacto y que fue la máxima de vida de esta increíble familia. Recomiendo verla en familia, es una película motivadora, que se puede utilizar perfectamente para hacer llegar un mensaje a quien necesita aprender hacer sacrificios y planes.

Soy admirador de las hermanas Williams. no he visto el film, espero hacerlo pronto para poder evaluar la actuación de Will. en mis predicciones a los Golden dije que lo mas probable es que la asociación lo eligiera. Por ahora ya va en la carrera para el Oscar, nominación segura.
Bueno creo que Will hizo un buen papel, no lo calificaría como su mejor desempeño, pero no soy un experto, ya recibió su globo de oro y eso dice mucho. Cuando supe de esta película la primera vez me dije a mi mismo que de seguro si intención era el Oscar
