Deliver Us from Evil (7/10) - Rapid action in this fast-paced crime story from Asian countries

When I first read about this movie I thought it was an Asian remake of a movie with the same name from 2014. However, once I read the summary of the plot I realized this was a completely different story that had nothing to do with the 2014 movie.

Deliver Us from Evil is an action movie that involves a large criminal organization, a talented hitman, and a powerful mobster looking for revenge. Each of them have their own objectives and agenda, and they will clash with each other in violent and bloody ways.

This convoluted criminal story begins with the kidnapping of a young kid. The criminal organization has very deep tentacles and the operation they are running is not only very perverse but also very well planned.

The talented hitman will eventually get involved in the kidnapping but not to facilitate it but rather to stop it and save the child. There will be personal reasons that explain why he worries so much about this child he had never seen before.

The other important character is the mobster looking for revenge, basically, he wants to avenge the death of his brother. He knows who is the hitman responsible for that crime, and he is willing to do anything it takes to destroy him. He has the resources, contacts, and skills to achieve his deadly objective.

There are a lot of action scenes in the movie which was obviously expected. However, I didn't like the fact that in each action scene, the punches were accelerated to make them look more violent. For a while, the film reminded me of the Taken movies although the ending was quite different.

I enjoyed the film but it hardly provided anything original. It was just another action film full of crime and with a revenge subplot. If you are looking for a fast-paced flick you should consider watching this one. It also has beautiful cinematography and entertaining characters.
