In a previous post I have described and reviewed the movie of Nagabonar [1987] the pickpocket who became a General during Indonesia's independence, then in this time I will go back to reviewing the sequel from Nagabonar made in 2007 which was directed by Deddy Mizwar [cast of Nagabonar in 1986 ]
In the story of this movie Naga Bonar (Deddy Mizwar) who is in his twilight is invited by his son Bonaga (Tora Sudiro) to travel to Jakarta. Naga Bonar this time set foot in magnificent Jakarta but also has a myriad of problems.
But Bonaga's intention was not just to invite his father to see Jakarta, but also to seduce Naga Bonar to give up his family's inherited oil palm plantation in Medan to become a place of business by collaborating with Investors from Japan.
Knowing the intentions of his son and his business friends have these goals, absurdly angry at Naga Bonar. Naga Bonar did not want to give up his mother's grave, Kirana his wife, or his best friend's Bujang were displaced because of business interests alone.
In addition to these problems, Naga Bonar must also be a matchmaker between Bonaga and Monita (Wulan Guritno). Naga Bonar also has to deal with various types of people who live in Jakarta and meet with Umar (Lukman Sardi), an innocent bajaj driver in dealing with life.
Previously, there were not many Indonesian movies that told about nationality, appreciating the services of patriot in the past. The movie is more about the moral message displayed by Naga Bonar, a former warrior who was a general in the Indonesian pro-independence era.
This movie is very interesting to watch, the typical flames to the authorities appear straightforwardly presented here. This situation comedy film reveals a variety of problems in Indonesia that disturb the soul of a warrior during independence. Here is also displayed several times the former General of the Naga Bonar visited a number of pro-independence Indonesian sites.
Nagabonar is not a hero, he is just one of the thousands of warriors who are old and faced with various problems of inequality which are considered wrong in filling the independence that has been painstakingly achieved in the past.
He is just an old man who has the principle of a warrior, hard, and firm. But his personality, of course, contrasts with what is currently facing this country. This Indonesian movie that shows values of friendship; family importance; integrity; nationalism and patriotism in how the continuation of Naga Bonar the General's adventure in the face of the distant cosmopolitan post-independence era have left loving attitudes towards the patriot's struggles, certainly interesting to watch.
