I had a while without seeing a series that caught my attention to do a marathon, I found Shadow and Bone by chance on Netflix, no idea it was new, and I must confess that I saw it and I loved it, so today I come to tell you a little about this series of fantasy, magic and a little drama, based on the books Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, released last April on the streaming platform. Here you will find magic, a story of friendship a bit confusing, betrayal and lies and above all a lot of emotion.
The story is based on a world divided by a huge shadow created centuries ago, and that has taken the lives of countless people in their eagerness to cross it, since the only way to get from one end to the other the huge nation of Ravka is crossing it, since surrounding it becomes impossible because of the fights between the sides of the different tribes. We meet a couple of orphans, the girl Alina Starkov, who is the protagonist of this series, played by Jessie Mei Li, and Mal - Malyen Oretsev Alina's best friend and who in the future will become her best ally and protector, played by Archie Renaux. As Alina grows up Alina becomes a cartographer and Mal becomes a soldier and tracker, both spend most of the series trying to be together, and you can even see a very good chemistry between the actors.
The antagonist of this series is the handsome General Kirigan played by Ben Barnes the summoner of the shadows, who seeks in any way he can to keep the total domain of the lands divided by the shadows and who hides a history as dark as the shadow he is able to summon, this secret is only known to him and his mother Baghra, played by Zoë Wanamaker, who is also capable of summoning shadows but is also the amplifier of the Grishas (magicians or sorcerers), and the one in charge of helping the sun summoner to develop her full potential.
In her eagerness to never be separated, Alina leaves after Mal, who is embarked on a mission to reach the other side of the shadow and meet with the second army, in the middle of the transit through the shadow can be seen as a kind of demons whip the area and are the cause of the countless lives lost trying to cross the same, by a mistake of one of the passengers of the boat, who turns on a light, these flying demons are attracted to it, taking several of those who were on board, at one point Mal is attacked and Alina comes to his aid, being caught by one of the demons, the unexpected happens, Alina unknowingly gives off a flash of light so strong capable of killing all the beasts, and save their lives.
Still wounded she is taken to General Kirigan, who tests her to see if she is Grisha, a test she had been running away from all her life, and this turns out to be the long awaited Sun Summoner, the only Grisha capable of ending the shadow and bringing peace to those lands. It is here where the whole adventure begins for Alina, who would now become a Saint for many, and a threat to others. From the moment the existence of the sun summoner is known, a price is placed on her head, so a group called the Crows or the Dregs enter the scene, led by Kaz Brekker a first class swindler capable of anything for money, he is accompanied by Inej Ghafa who is a very skilled spy and right hand of Kaz, Jesper Fahey is also a sniper of the crows who saves the lives of its members on several occasions, they embark on a journey through the shadow guided by Arken - The Driver, who ends up betraying them, all this to collect the reward for the summoner of the sun.
General Kirigan seduces and wraps Alina in his lies, looking to make her join him and help him realize his dark plans, plans that Alina herself discovers thanks to Baghra, Kirigan's mother, who is against these plans. One of the things I loved about this series, is the ability to keep you trapped in each chapter, because as they develop the story in the present time, they include fragments of past history that originated everything that is lived; a trend that I have seen in some of the series I've seen lately, and that certainly is the best way to catch the viewer to understand the whole plot of the story.
It has not yet been confirmed if there will be a second season, but the last chapter of this first, undoubtedly leaves its viewers wanting more, so I hope that the second season will not take long. It is a series for those over 16 years old, and although there are no hot scenes, there is violence and blood. I recommend it for those who, like me, love this kind of genre, a series full of fantasy that enhances in a very good way the value of true friendship.

Tenia rato sin ver una serie que me llamara la atención como para hacer un maratón, me encontré a Sombra y Hueso por casualidad en Netflix, ni idea de que era nueva, y debo confesar que la vi y me encanto, así que hoy vengo a contarles un poco sobre esta serie de fantasía, magia y un poco de drama, basada en los libros Shadow and Bone y Six of Crows de Leigh Bardugo, estrenada el pasado abril en la plataforma de streaming. Aquí encontraras magia, una historia de amistad un poco confusa, traición y mentira y sobre todo mucha emoción.
La historia se basa en un mundo dividido por una enorme sombre creada siglos atrás, y que le ha arrebatado la vida a un sin número de personas en su afán de cruzar la misma, ya que la única manera de llegar de un extremo al otro la enorme nación de Ravka es cruzándola, ya que rodearla se hace imposible por las peleas entre los bandos de las diferentes tribus. Encontramos a un par de huérfanos, la chica Alina Starkov, quien es la protagonista de esta serie, interpretada por Jessie Mei Li, y a Mal - Malyen Oretsev el mejor amigo de Alina y quien en un futuro se convertira en su mejor aliado y protector, interpretado por Archie Renaux . Al crecer Alina se convierte en cartógrafa y Mal en un soldado y rastreador, ambos pasan la mayor parte de la serie tratando de estar juntos, e incluso se puede ver una muy buena química entre los actores.
El antagonista de esta serie es el apuesto General Kirigan interpretado por Ben Barnes el invocador de las sombras, quien busca de la manera que sea quedarse con el dominio total de las tierras divididas por las sombras y quien oculta una historia tan oscura como la sombra que es capaz de invocar, este secreto solo es conocido por él y su madre Baghra, interpretado por Zoë Wanamaker , quien también es capaz de invocar las sombras pero además es la amplificadora de los Grishas (magos o brujos), y la que se encarga de ayudar a la invocadora del sol a desarrollar todo su potencial.
En su afán de no separarse nunca, Alina sale tras Mal, quien es embarcado en una misión para llegar al otro lado de la sombra y reunirse con el segundo ejército, en medio del tránsito por la sombra se pueden ver como una especie de demonios azotan la zona y son los causantes de la infinidad de vidas perdidas tratando de cruzar la misma, por un error de uno de los pasajeros de la embarcación, quien enciende una luz, estos demonios voladores son atraídos al mismo, llevándose a varios de los que se encontraban a bordo, en un momento Mal es atacado y Alina sale en su ayuda, al ser atrapada por uno de los demonios, sucede lo inesperado, Alina despide sin saber un destello de luz tan fuerte capaz de acabar con todas las bestias, y salvar sus vidas.
Aun herida es llevada ante el General Kirigan, quien le hace la prueba para saber si es Grisha, prueba de la que ella había huido toda su vida, y esta resulta ser la tan esperada Invocadora del Sol, la única grisha capaz de acabar con la sombra y llevar la paz a esas tierras. Es aquí donde comienza toda la aventura para Alina, quien ahora se convertiría en una Santa para muchos, y en amenaza para otros. Desde el momento que se conoce la existencia de la invocadora del sol, le es colocado precio a su cabeza, por lo que entran en escena un grupo autodenominado los Cuervos o los Dregs, liderados por Kaz Brekker un estafador de primera capaz de todo por dinero, le acompañan Inej Ghafa quien es una espía muy hábil y mano derecha de Kaz, además esta Jesper Fahey francotirador de los cuervos quien le salva la vida a sus integrantes en varias oportunidades, estos emprenden un viaje a través de la sombra guiados por Arken - El Conductor, quien termina traicionándolos, todo esto por cobrar la recompensa por la invocadora del sol.
El General Kirigan seduce y envuelve en sus mentiras a Alina, en busca de hacer que esta se una a él y lo ayude a concretar sus planes oscuros, planes que la misma Alina descubre gracias a Baghra, la madre de Kirigan, quien está en contra de estos planes. Una de las cosas que ame de esta serie, es la capacidad de mantenerte atrapado en cada capítulo, pues a medida que van desarrollando la historia en el tiempo actual, van incluyendo fragmentos de la historia pasada que origino todo lo que se vive; una tendencia que he visto en algunas de las series que he visto últimamente, y que sin duda es la mejor manera de atrapar al televidente para poder entender toda la trama de la historia.
Aun no se ha confirmado si habrá una segunda temporada, pero el último capítulo de esta primera, deja sin dudas a sus espectadores con ganas de más, así que espero que la segunda temporada no tarde. Es una serie para mayores de 16 años, y aunque no hay escenas hot, si hay violencia y sangre. La recomiendo para los que, como yo, amamos este tipo de género, una serie llena de fantasía que realza de una muy buena manera el valor de la amistad verdadera.

The idea is great, but some things are not nicely and fully explained, so I expect a much better next season :) I can't say I didn't like it, especially the eternal theme of light and darkness, but it could have been better. Regards!
I think it's part of the new wave that some series have taken, to explain the origins of the series as it develops, I really hope they explain a lot of things in a new season as well.
