Hello movie lovers! What are you watching lately? 😎

It's already been one month since my last movie review so considering that I did watch quite a few things in this whole time, so I thought it's a pretty good excuse to return writing another review and perhaps help you pick your next film to watch tonight!

Anyway, I'm going to write about a movie that was released on Netflix in June so maybe some of you have already watched this one or kept seeing it on the front page but weren't sure if you should start watching it or not, so hopefully, my review will help you decide on that because I also postponed this moment for way too much.

Introduction

While in most of the cases I'm used to seeing Adam Sandler act in comedy movies, which by the way, are always amazing, this time I got to watch something different which is more in the sports area but comes with a little bit of drama too. This one is actually amongst the favourite actors my boyfriend has, so perhaps I wouldn't see this movie by now if he wouldn't pick it, but I'm really happy he did because we had a great time watching Hustle.

What not many people know, is that Adam Sandler is a genuine fan of the basketball sport and is the single activity he has time to enjoy in his free time, turning the movie into a more personal role than any others he played in the past.

Description

Hustle is an American drama movie directed by Jeremiah Zagar, from a screenplay by Taylor Materne and Will Fetters which has Adam Sandler as the main actor playing the role of an NBA scout in search of new talents which is a good opportunity to see lots of current and former NBA players and coaches portraying themselves in the movie or other characters.

The work Adam Sandler (playing Stanley Sugarman) has to do, is not an easy one, especially that since the beginning of the movie you will see him on and off planes, in and out of hotels and eating lots of junk food on his journey seeking for new basketball players to be taken to the next level in their career.

Anyway, just when this one will find a special player that could easily make his way to the top, Stanley Sugarman already lose his trust in front of the other people he was working with, which comes with stressful moments and lots of ups and downs trying to prove them wrong and build the best player from Juancho Hernangomez (playing Bo Cruz) who is a professional Spanish basketball player already in his real life, playing for Toronto Raptors.

Just as I said, this is going to take a while and perhaps you will get bored seeing Stanley Sugarman check on locals from the whole Europe for someone to get in his team, but as soon as he finds Bo Cruz, there is where the whole action begins with some compromises being made while the boy is part of some painful training and lots of hard-working hours to become a better self.

Whats harder though, is that Bo Cruz is one of those poor kids who left the basketball games just as a passion while his job was on the opposite pole, but his life is not an easy one and before the whole process of getting better at basketball begins, there are some other challenges in terms of making him follow this route and assume some risks.

Opinions

I've always liked playing basketball, but somehow never enjoyed watching sporty movies just because they always felt way too technical or not watchable by everyone. Happily, Hustle managed to stay away from that and turned into rather a Drama movie than one with just sports sequences, so it has a big plus for that.

Another thing that I really enjoyed, was seeing professional NBA players playing themselves or other colleagues of them instead of using some actors because it comes with a bigger excitement to watch the movie.

Conclusions

Hustle is a real-life lesson that shows that no matter how you see your life, you can always try something new, the best example being Juancho Hernangomez who never wanted to be an actor but after pandemic he gave this a try and had him in the main role for the movie with Adam Sandler.

The film also comes with lots of insides that perhaps no one is aware of but somehow explains what any sportsman has to endure in order to turn into a professional.

Additionally, all the aspects about each actor's life and the scenes with the basketball that are far from seeming amateurish, brings the ice on the cake to have an amazing piece to watch any time of the day and still enjoy it to the fullest no matter whether you like basketball or not.

Have you seen "Hustle"?

And if so, what are your thoughts on the whole scenery?

Such an amazing film. As a basketball and Adam Sandler fan, I really loved it.

Did you see the news about the NBA player Anthony Edwards? He's the guy who played Bo Cruz's rival Kermit Wilts in the movie. They made it seem like he was such an asshole, then tried to say he was a nice guy in real life. Then he goes and gets fined $40k for something "anti-gay". Pretty dumb that people get in trouble for saying anything these days, I mean I believe people should be strong enough to withstand some mean words. We've gotten soft though. At least it proves that they went with the right player in the NBA to play that role in the film since saying mean things comes naturally to him.

What?!?! Didn't know that, but yeah, I really didn't like him in the movie and I doubt he is a nicer person in real life. It's sad that you get to deal with the law for anything you are saying but just as you said, that made him take his mask off for sure.

He was easy to hate in the film. The news was pretty ironic.

I saw this movie, it was too good, there is nothing better than a movie with Adam Sandler in it, this man really works in good movies, if he is in it is because it will be good, I still remember a movie called "they are like children".

Oh yeah. You don't even have to worry on the film when you see Adam Sandler on the actors list. He's really good no matter if he plays in a comedy or other kind of movie.

Thanks for stopping by! :)
